Watched a video of Mayweather v. Ortiz the other night. Ortiz more than held his own for the first three rounds. Then Floyd started battering him. Ortiz deliberately head-butted him. Ref took a point away from Ortiz, then called time in. Ortiz tried to shake gloves with Floyd, but while the ref was looking the other way, Floyd clocked Ortiz with a terrific combo--and lights out. Perfectly legal: defend yourself at all times. After the fight, Larry Merchant of HBO was hounding Floyd to explain himself. After a while, Floyd told Merchant he never gave him a fair shake, and that he was "s**t." Merchant replied, "If I were fifty years younger, I'd kick your ass!"

The Chisora/Haye fiasco was incredible. Even worse than Tyson and Lewis in their pre-fight brawl.
Chisora though looked to be the trouble causer, he slapped Vitali at the weigh in, spat water in his brothers Wladimir's face.. I don't like Haye but I don't think went to have a fight there and then. Chisora is a loose cannon.

Exactly, it's quite funny too because in the press conferences leading up to the fight he was so nice and well behaved, it was almost as if he idolised Klitschko until the weigh in and he just transformed into a scum-bag.

And there are a lot of rumors going around that Pacquiao may retire after the Bradley fight. I was hopeful the Mayweather/Pac fight would eventually happen, but at this point, I could care less. Isn't it so frustrating? What could be one of the biggest fights of all time, certainly the biggest revenue wise, will probably not happen because of greed and management etc. Ridiculous. I've kind of accepted it will never happen now, boxing while I love it has been run into the ground on the high level because of these antics. This is one thing I must say that MMA has got sorted. The UFC has basically bought out all large rival companies and owns all the fighters so it makes the fights that the fans want to see happen which is fantastic and that is why it's one of the fastest growing sports in the world, because it actually gives the fans what they want.

Good point Yogi, hype sells fights... I think I would rather that then Haye vs Vitali maybe. Imagine it would be a repeat of his Wladimir fight. Chisora may be in more trouble for the threats to kill!!! Haha, jeepers.
It's a shame, the heavyweight division just seems to have nothing going for it. All the good fights are around Welterweight these days and there aren't too many good ones left there either.
Where are todays Tyson's, Holyfield's, Lewis's, Tua's etc at heavyweight?

Oh well, not sure what will happen at heavyweight when the Klitschko's are gone, it will be open season! But in saying that, I just looked at the worlds top ranked 50 heavyweight boxers and I must say.. Basically a lot of has beens and no-one who offers too much excitement. I don't want the sport of boxing to die but it's on shaky legs! http://boxing.about.com/cs/rankingschampions/a/bl_heavy.htm

Indeed, at least Khan is looking good for you guys in the U.K. Hope he does well in his rematch, I missed the controversial fight with Peterson.

I really think Kell Brook is ready for bigger challenges, throw him in with the likes of Devon Alexander for instance. Boxing fans have known for a long time not to look at the HW division, it sucks that it is not good but there are tons of fighters who are incredible who mainstream fans don't know about, Featherweights, bantomweights etc. Check out Nonito Donaire he is at least the 4th best fighter in the world. As for the Klitschko bros, I hate them, I don't care that their gentlemen and respectful, they are boring and cautious in the ring! Wlad made no effort to KO Haye even though he probs could of, And Vitali made Dereck Chisora look good! HAHAHAH!!!

You would expect that matches which generate biggest revenues would provide the incentive to satisfy fans. Is it a case of each side worried a loss might damage future earning potential? The hype of a rematch could generate even more money. Whatever the reason, boxing is in need of an overhaul, as you say along the lines of UFC. Too many decisions are left in the hands of individual parties. The Mayweather camp's refusal to split the purse 50/50 with Pac seems like an avoidance tactic. Though I can see Mayweather asking larger share of Pay Per View, since he and De La Hoya hold the record for single boxing event ratings. They're both big draws for ratings but Mayweather probably has the edge.

Oh wow, I didn't know that, that's shocking treatment. It's funny because the Klitschko's still get a lot of boos from the crowd in Germany even though they've basically made it their home town.
I won't miss their fighting style, very boring fighters indeed. I am looking forward to Cotto and Mayweather but I like Mayweather and I like Cotto. Not the fight I want to see but... Still better than anything else coming up.

Yeah I don't know Frank. He's pleaded guilty, that much I know but as to what really happened who knows. I like to think that it's been blown out of proportion and that what-ever happened was minimal. I know assault can include some flimsy stuff like grabbing an arm or a push etc and while I'm not saying that those things are acceptable, I certainly wouldn't think they are worthy of the attention this is getting. But it apparently does say he struck her in some form, possibly a slap? I don't know. I like Mayweather, don't approve of this though but because I wasn't there I'm going to think twice about calling him guity just because he pleaded that way. He's a famous black athlete, how many times have you seen falsified or blown out of proportion claims against top black athletes... Too many to count.

Yogi, are you a fan of Louis Theroux? I love his documentaries. Anyway have you seen his documentary on Chris Eubank? What about you DE NIRO?
