The majority of Italian mobsters aren't tall guys. Castellano was often described as 6'2" or 6'3", but if you look at his booking photo from his 1985 arrest, the one where he's standing next to the height chart, he's nowhere near that.

It could have been an age thing too, as he got older (like many of us do) his posture was not as good as it was when he was younger so you would actually appear to be not as tall as you were. I never paid attention to his '85 booking photo though to see how far off from 6'2" he was.

He was 70 and people shrink when they get older as their spine curves and the disks between their vertabrae gets thinner. He could have easily lost 2-3 inches

Dammit. Why are all these mobsters so small. I typed in his height on the Internet and it came back as 5'10.

Booking photos are taken while the arrestees are wearing shoes, so Castellano was under 6 ft. even with shoes on. Just saying. Height is a topic like anything else, so I'm commenting.
People have a tendency towards hyperbole, and height seems to be a common area for that.
Not that it should really matter.
I'm exactly 5'9 1/2" barefoot, so with shoes I guess I could claim 5'11" and get away with it.
But if I were a movie star, I'd round up to 6'0"!

A lot of Italians are short and stocky please don't call me a racists for saying that. All my relatives fit that discription
