This started out as a video post in the YouTube thread, but I then I realized he more than deserves his own thread.

Google has this video as a tribute to him:

And there's a wonderful post on Google's blog by Brian May.
He gave people proof that a man could achieve his dreams—made them feel that through him they were overcoming their own shyness, and becoming the powerful figure of their ambitions. And he lived life to the full. He devoured life. He celebrated every minute. And, like a great comet, he left a luminous trail which will sparkle for many a generation to come.

As long as there's sport in this world, his / Queen's music will never stop. "We Will Rock You" will always play before games, and "We Are The Champions" after finals. It's amazing you have two of the greatest sport anthems by the same group, and I am not sure if these songs were meant to be sport-related.

In any case, I will say this about their music: they have way too many great songs to call, but one stands above all, "Bohemian Rhapsody": it is a work of genius, a true masterpiece. It's uniquely diverse, and quite a rare piece of music. It's a song for generations.

"Come out and take it, you dirty, yellow-bellied rat, or I'll give it to you through the door!"

- James Cagney in "Taxi!" (1932)

I love how Queen took over Live Aid in 1985. Every performer was only granted to play one or two songs. They played 25 minutes.

What a pity, that he died so young. He was amazingly talented. I only recently discovered that his college degree was in graphic design and that he designed the Queen logo. A true artist.

Loved Freddie (and Queen). Lots of wonderful music. They had their own style and it was great. smile
