I think the Jimmy A. hit in the first season would have to be my favorite hit.

For me it would've have to be Phil's death, because I didn't expect him to be killed at that point in the episode and in the fashion he was.

I think mine would have to be when Sil wacks Adriana. I wasn't a big fan of Ade.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say Bobby's hit on the Canadian guy doing his laundry. Not so much for the hit itself, which was pretty routine, but for the following scene when Bobby returns to his family and hugs his daughter to the soothing sounds of "This Magic Moment" by The Drifters. That whole thing was brilliantly done--superb direction and camera work--and really brought home to me the duality (and indeed, harsh realities) of mob life. I must say, I really loved that scene.

Then again, the hit on Bobby himself was pretty cool, too.

I would have to say either the tony b or jimmy altieri hit.

Hands Down when Walden shot Phil. I hated Phil!

I think the best hit on the Sopranos was when Gene shoots Teddy Spirodakis. No doubt about it, Gene was a stone-cold killer and perfect for the business. It was a shame his family created frustrations and that he was actually an FBI informant. If he didn’t commit suicide, he presumably would have made Capo after Vito Spatafore was killed.

Speaking of Vito, another great hit was when he killed unnamed New England resident in the back of the head after the man insists on filing a police report for insurance purposes after Vito crashing into his car, in 2006. I liked the way Vito only killed people in snow...
Joe Gannascoli did excellent in the Sopranos.

The Rusty Irish hit, Mikey palmice tells rusty that if he can fly he won't shoot him down before throwing him off the bridge and paying off the witnesses.

Tony whacking Tony B was one of my favorite hits.

Although Mikey Palmice's hit was another, Paulie getting stung by the poison ivy lol.

I would say the best hit was Bobby Bacalla Sr. whacked Mustang Sally. It was bloody but also darkly funny

Especially after the hit, where Bobby, Sr. ends up in the coughing fit, passes out and plows into the sign. I always chuckle when the camera pans up and you see the aftermath simultaneously with the Sister Golden Hair guitar riff on the radio.

Love the Phil Leotardo hit as well. "I should get the 60 day supply of the Pavlix..." and then Walden pulling the trigger. Guess the doc can cancel that script now.

The Ralph hit is one of my favorites. The brutal fight in the kitchen with Raid, a frying pan and a knife was crazy. Then the whole scene after when Tony and a high Chrissy go to Uncle Pat's. Watching Tony smiling on the backhoe with the cigar was awesome.

Chrissy's reaction to Ralph's toupee is hilarious, as was the bowling ball rolling down the stairs when they're cutting up Ralph in the tub.

Another great hit was when Tony hits Chucky Signore. First Chucky's surprised to see Tony, then Tony pulls the gun out of the fish's mouth and starts firing.

For the sheer gruesomeness I have to pick Phil Leotardo's hit. Even though they don't show it you can just imagine the truck tire slowly rolling over his head until it pops send brains and blood flying all over the service station like some Sicilian piñata.
The best hit as far as good TV goes has got to be Bobby Baccala. One minute he's buying a train then BAM! He's causing a bigger wreck than Amtrak. What puts this over the top for me is the way the miniature people on the train set react to the shooting. Great idea!

Tony B, Tony blew em outta his shoes with tat shogun , it was a very well directed scene , the music and the leadup to it, then just a quick BANG!!!

The one that surprised me the most was the Gerry Torciano hit. Silvio and Gerry are out with the goomahs, and while Sil's talking, everything goes into slow motion and you can see the blood spray on Sil.
