I saw the advert for the godfather on film four yesterday, where michael explains his plans to kill Sollozo, but I personally think that scene would be better if they kept it like it was in the book , it would be an early hint to Michael's ruthlessness which is shown in GF2.

Any scenes that are different in the film that you think would be better if they were like the book?

We don't need an 'early hint' to Michael's ruthlessness in the film. It is entertaining enough to see it emerge gradually, mostly after the death of Appolonia.

I cannot think of any scenes in the book that should've been depicted exactly the same way in the film. While many details were omitted for the necessity of time...FFC told the overall story quite well.

I wasnt saying the ruthlessness needed to be shown early , jus it would of been yet another sign and would of fitted in well, FFC done well enough showing the scenes i was just wondering peoples opinions smile

I do remember that scene in the book. Alot of dialogue from Sonny indicating how impressed he is at seeing this new side of his little brother. I guess a bit of that could've been included in the film, however that scene as it was depicted kind've got right to the point and then moved the story on.

The scene where Tom goes to Kay's hick town to bring her back. And I think Marry should have stayed out I would have liked to see what would have happend if Mike had two sons like he did in the book. (One good one bad maybe)

it would be interesting if one was like a cross of Sonny and Michael , like bad tempered/extremely smart, that would of probably made the godfather future very interesting

I've read a quote from (I think) FFC indicating that Vincent was supposed to be just that combination.

He certainly is bad-tempered.

Some would disagree, but I think he's also very smart. He sniffed out the AC hit in time to save Michael, unlike all the other dons in the meeting. He was also smart enough to go from total outsider to don in a very short time.

I would think anybody could have sniffed out the stink from the comments about the "Lucky Coat"....

I know I smelled something, even earlier
