It's with extreme embarrassment that I realized that the GangsterBB did not take notice, on these Boards, of the birthday (on February 28) of one of our most respected members. Afsaneh may very well be our only member in Iran. Her posts are always thoughtful, intelligent, and deserving of attention. A definite asset, and an enlightenment to the GBB, if I do say so. And a class act, too.  So, a Happy Belated Birthday to you, Afsaneh. Hope your day was enjoyable in every possible way!  Cheers! Signor V.

I'm not sure if the Board's calendar is right in listing the 28th as afsaneh's birthday. Her Facebook account lists TODAY (March 1st) as the big day. Regardless, Happy Birthday, afs, and may you be revisited by the day (whatever it is  ) many times in good health.

Well, my date of birth is such a complicated issue, I'm quite happy with any of these dates. See, we've our own calendar and our leap days come 20 days later, and they are not exactly at the same year as your calendar. So according to your calendar, I might have my birthday on Feb, 28 or 29 or more commonly on March 1st. This year it was on Feb. 29.  But the year I was born, it has been March 1st, and I realized this a few years back. Previously I thought it must've been Feb. 28. At any case, I'm happy to celebrate two or three days as my birthday. I'll give cakes to anyone who comes at any of these days, I promise.

You can compare its accuracy against Gregorian calendar here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_calendar#Calendar_seasonal_errorhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendars#AccuracyOurs has +/- 0.5 days margin error, while Gregorian can have over a day margin error. The reason ours is so precise in this matter is that we celebrate the very exact time the spring begins as our New Year, no matter what hour, be it even in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning. And it sucks when we try to convert dates.
