Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, who led the Jets to their only Super Bowl title in 1969, was among those unhappy with the possible deal.
"I'm just sorry that I can't agree with this situation. I think it's just a publicity stunt. I can't go with it. I think it's wrong," Namath told 1050 ESPN Radio. "I don't think they know what they're doing over there."

As I posted yesterday, how fleeting is fame. He was the talk of the sports world just a few months ago. Now what? He may turn out to be a serviceable backup, but probably not any mor than that. I guess the money he'll make is some compensation for his fall from grace.
It's weird how despite his fans being obnoxiously loud, Tebow was still the QB of a team that went to the playoffs, won its division, won a playoff game. Certainly he was all over the place, at times Jesus he was great (that playoff win) and other times, he threw like Jesus after he got crucified. #1 jersey seller last year too. Yet all that, he gets traded to the Jets for 4th and 6th round picks to become a celebrity back-up. Brandon Marshall got traded for a pair of 3rd round picks, and that nightclub-girl-asshole hasn't done anything worth a shit in years. But if Sanchez throws too many picks, expect Gang Green to turn on him quicker than Knicks players did on their coach and chant Tebow's name.

I'll go so far as to say that after Sanchez's first pick in a home game next season, you'll see some Tebowing in the stands. I'm the first to admit that New York/New Jersey fans are sometimes too hard on their players, but Sanchez sucks so it will be justified. And Jets fans are gonna let him know it very soon.

PB, I think the boooooooooo's will start after the first Sanchez incompletion.
I feel sorry for the Jets fans. Their ownership and GM are making some bonehead football moves and Rex just makes it worse with his big mouth. I wonder what Fireman Ed thinks. The Jets get the headlines. The Giants get the Super Bowl rings . Tannenbaum has proven himself to be the football version of Omar Minaya. Ryan's a jerk. Woody Johnson is such an otherwise shrewd businessman that it's hard to belive that he'll put up with these two clowns for too much longer.

You're right about that pb, plus when you add in the fact he's not a very good qb(like ronnierocket stated) that compounds the whole issue. It's going to get worse in my view if sanchez starts to look awful, they'll be screaming for Tebow to be the starter and he might be a worse QB than sanchez. Oh well since I hate the Jets and their loudmouthed coach this 3 ring circus is really

Freaking disaster!!! When he gave that big contract to Oliver Perez, I knew it was going to be a disaster.

Did anybody see that local billboard welcoming Tebow to NY? Give that and him doing a press conference as a back-up QB, and pretty much hitting a homerun at that podium...I think Sanchez has already lost his job. It all comes down now to the timing of that regime change. I agree. This has become as much a circus as the Republican primaries .

Team turmoil.
Revis: Tim Tebow adds to Jets' circus
Fox Sports
Darrelle Revis shattered any ideas that the Jets' locker room issues were a thing of the past.
The star cornerback made a series of promotional appearances on a variety of television and radio shows Wednesday and talked about quarterbacks Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez. But his most revealing comments were about the dysfunctional Jets locker room.
On "SportsCenter," Revis was asked to play a game of word association. When the interviewer said, "Locker room," Revis gave a stunning reply.
"Disarray right now," he said.
The Jets had major chemistry issues last year on their way to an 8-8 season. Those issues boiled over at the end of the season. But Jets coach Rex Ryan has emphasized those problems are a thing of the past.
Now Tebow adds a whole new element to the Jets' chaotic existence.
"It was a circus, and it's going to be even more of a circus with him in the locker room," Revis said. "I'm not questioning his ability to play the game. He can flat out play the game, but it's just going to bring more to the locker room of every day: 'Does Mark need to start? Does Tim need to start?' It's going to just be an ongoing thing throughout the whole season."
Revis said he initially was stunned when he heard about the Tebow trade. He said he believes the Jets did it for football reasons and not as a publicity stunt. But the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback said he has some concerns about the way the two-quarterback system will work.
"You don't want to take a guy out for 10, 15 plays to me, personally," he said. "That can lose his momentum in the game. I look at that a little bit maybe as a concern. You're telling Mark to come in and say, 'Hey, now throw a touchdown pass.' It's like, 'I've been sitting out for so long.'"
As for comparing the two quarterbacks, Revis said Sanchez is "more of a complete quarterback" and that he is more difficult to prepare for than Tebow.
When pressed on just how bad the locker room was at the end of last season, Revis gave a glimpse of what led to the three-game losing streak to end the year.
"It was bad," he said. "Toward the end of the season, there was some arguing and things going on in the locker room. Looking back at it, I think when you're losing and you're in that slump, we're trying to find a way to get out of the slump, and guys want to just win. When you don't, guys start pointing fingers."
The situation became apparent to all in the final game at Miami, when wide receiver Santonio Holmes was benched late in the fourth quarter after reportedly arguing with teammates in the huddle.
