Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers here on the BB AND to all their mothers. A great day to appreciate. My daughters/family came over and we hung out by the pool and had fast food lunch. Low key but nice. TIS

While my older boy and wife were at Yankee Stadium, my two kids and I drove a couple of hours and had dinner with my mom, dad and grandmother. My mom actually insisted on cooking as she didn't want to fight the crowds. She made ham, lamb, mashed potatoes, escalloped potatoes and several vegetable mixes. It was topped off with lemon meringue pie and apple pie.
We then stopped by my mother-in-law's where my brother-in-law made a dinner of marinated chicken tenders, potato encrusted tilapia, more ham and once again, two kinds of potatoes and an assortment of vegetables. We got home arond 8:30.
My mom has a strength that I was too dumb to recognize or appreciate fully until recently. She has weathered the unexpected death of my brother three and a half years ago, manages with my dad, who is slowly being ravaged by the insidious snares of Alzheimers, cares daily for my aging grandmother, but has never missed a beat in maintaining the same comforting and happy home for her growing family as the one I remember as a child.

Kly, Your mom sounds not only wonderful but very strong as well. God bless her. Oh, and what a meal!!! Sound delicious. Then you got to eat at your MIL's house later? LOL Don't tell me you were hungry for a snack when you got home. Sounds great!! TIS

Kudos to all the moms out there who do an often thankless job. It should be called Mom's Day, not Mother's Day -- it's no special feat to be a parent as much as it is to be a real "Mommy"! So belated Happy Mommy Day!
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Btw, glad to see you back here recently, goombah. I'm sure you were thinking of your mom today. Thanks SB! I certainly was thinking of her. While I miss her every day, I am glad to have good memories of her. Plus I have my wife is such a terrific mother to our little ones (who unfortunately are not so little any longer ). It is nice to be back. I had just been so swamped at work for the past year, but now I feel like I have a few minutes a day to hang out here. I forgot how much I enjoyed the BB.
