Probably a soldier. That scene always reminds me of FFC's directoral license: two guys armed with submachine guns to knock off Tatt? Maybe they thought the hooker was armed.
"Io sono stanco, sono imbigliato, and I wan't everyone here to know, there ain't gonna be no trouble from me..Don Corleone..Cicc' a port!"
"I stood in the courtroom like a fool."
"I am Constanza: Lord of the idiots."

Rocco and friend. Did Tatt have bodyguards like Sonny when he visited Lucy? I guess Rocco and friend had to kill those guys first; silently of course.
I always feel sorry for Clemenza having to walk all those stairs, all dressed up, with gloves on, to kill Stracci.
BUT, you have to admit - you love those scenes! In the game you pay off a gaurd at the bottum of the stairs abd have to garrot a few guys to get to Tatt.

Remember that the War of the Five Families was over when Tattaglia was killed. As far as they were concerned, Michael was a moron who shouldn't be looked upon as a threat. I disagree, if Barzini was still alive he would have continued the war. I believe in the book that Tatt and Barzini are killed which ends the war and in the movie all the bosses were killed.

I disagree, if Barzini was still alive he would have continued the war. I believe in the book that Tatt and Barzini are killed which ends the war and in the movie all the bosses were killed. The "War of the Five Families" ended when Vito negotiated "the peace" at the Commission meeting that Barzini arranged. The encroachment of Corleone territory by Barzini could, I suppose, be interpreted as a continuance of this, but it isn't made clear (to my remembrance) what involvement the other families had in all that. I still do not believe there was any reason for Tattaglia to suspect a rat when he was killed. You could argue that the fact that Barzini was going to have Michael killed meant that he (Barzini) and his allies should have been on a "war footing," but the film certainly doesn't portray that to be so. None of them had any respect for Michael. Tattaglia probably did have a bodyguard stashed away somewhere near the hotel room, but not as many that accompanied Santino to Lucy's apartment.
