Has there ever been a member of the mafia with a reputation of being a "niceguy". Members we know are all meant to be scumbags, but surely there has been a few exceptions..
The Mafia Is Not Primarily An Organisation Of Murderers. First And Foremost,The Mafia Is Made Up Of Thieves. It Is Driven By Greed And Controlled By Fear.
Between The Law And The Mafia, The Law Is Not The Most To Be Feared
"What if the Mafia were not an organization but a widespread Sicilian attitude of hostility towards the law?"
I guess the niceguys never made it far up the ladder, wasn't Tommy Gambino the money man..

Yeah he was a big earner in the garment district, I guess guys like him are made due to their family, regardless sometimes of their skills and toughness
There are guys who have reputations as not being overly violent. I mean, Joe Ligambi or John DiFronzo probably aren't malicious guys at all.
The nice guys probably don't get in much trouble, so we never hear about them. So it's hard to name a guy who was really a good guy. From reading books about the mafia i'd say maybe Sonny Black. He supposedly had his wife call up Pistone and tell him he wasn't mad, and then he went and got killed. Thats a lot nicer than I would have been.
Pat Spirito Nick Calabrese Both traumatized by having to kill people.
Louis Tom Dragna was the Tommy Gambino of LA. Big labor racketeer, never got his hands anywhere near dirty. He would excitedly recall a time he saw Fratianno kill someone, and Fratianno yelled at him saying, 'here's an idea, why don't you kill someone yourself for once'. He never did. Don't know if this makes him a nice guy, I kind of feel like it does.
Michael James Genovese refused to avenge the murder of his brother because the killer was mentally ill.
Louis was defiantly a nice guy although a more accurate word would be wimp. His dad and uncle set up everything for him. If the family wasn't in such bad shape after Jack's death he probably wouldn't of gotten very far. Barrett, do you know If Louis is still alive? I know he was alive as of 2006, but I find it hard to believe he'd still be alive considering he'd be turning 92 if he were. Yet I can't find any source saying he is dead.
