I think it was around the 80s most likely. Then for a few years there was no activity. Then around the turn of the millennium a gang called "TSA" took over the turfs across the nation.

Take it from an insider, it is extremely difficult to steal anything on a large/meaningful scale particularly from any of the three NY/NJ airports. You will get caught before you even know what happened.
