.330 44 Home Runs 139 RBIs
Miguel Cabreara is our first Triple Crown winner in 45 years since Yaz, and first outright in all 3 categories since Frank Robinson in '66.
It's an understatement how hard it is to be #1 in your League in homeruns, RBIs, and batting average. I mean you can win the batting title or homerun title, but both in the same year? That's almost impossible considering to hit those homeruns, you have to swing for the fences, which means strikeouts. If you're all about driving runs in and getting on base for your team, swinging for the fences is against your strategy. (The last National League Triple Crown winner was in '37.)
But Cabrera made history, a story that should be the front-page headline across the country. Forget the debate, this should be the stunning news that many have heard about but weren't old enough (or even alive) to seen this superman feat in the flesh. Forget the bad economy or crazy people overseas blowing stuff up, at least just for today. Just rejoice that somebody kicked ass right into the history books, joining a list of names including Yaz, Robinson, Ted Williams, Roger Hornsby, and Lou Gehrig.
(And I'm serious about what I said in the shoutbox: Anybody who gives anybody else but Cabrera a 1st place vote needs a hearty good ole fashion bitch slap. I don't care what you state nerds have on Mike Trout, Miguel won the Triple Crown. Oh and his team is going to the playoffs. Case Closed.)

I agree, ronnie, that Cabrera is the clear mvp. Regardless of the varying criteria used by the selectors of the award, he comes out well above Trout. What drives me bonkers is when people argue "well the Angels won more games." Yeah the Angels won more games, exactly ONE MORE than the Tigers. Also, we're talking about the same Angels who finished 3rd in their division. Those two teams that finished above them are in the playoffs. The Angels aren't. Plus the A's were 5 games back of the Rangers, w/ 9 games left. A's won the division title. The Angels faded in September.
Manager of the Year has to be Melvin or Showalter. Flip a coin.
Both worthy, I suppose Showalter will win because he took over an Orioles team not been to the playoffs in 14 years and in '10 before his arrival they had the worst record in baseball. Now they're in the playoffs (w/ help from Bobby Valentine-aided Red Sox collapse).
