I'm curious what proof do they have he killed Salvatore Montagna, especially 1st degree proof ? He doesn't seem like that type that would do that himself, he must have a dozen associates that were up for the job. It wasn't his house Montagna ran out of when he died, was it ? They have blackberry text messages that links all those arrested to the killings. The info hasn't been released but I bet you it's Desjardins texting Mirachi "hey Montagna is at Jack Arthur's house" and Mirachi rounds up the boys.....Ironworker gets handled. Somethin along those lines.

Are there many French Canadians in the Montreal Italian Mafia ? He's working with the Hells Angels as did Jack Simpson, Vito Rizzuto is also testifying.

they said its from blackberry messages before and immediately after the murder led to all the arrests. From what i can gather it was arcuri who betrayed montagna and set up the meeting an assured his safety. thats only thing that makes sense to me as to why montagna would walk into a trap like that... I can't understand, how a person like montagna can walk around without a bodyguard or simply put, all alone?? Can anyone from NYC, describe montagna's character.

I can't believe someone who has been involved in the street life and probably been mentored by other street guy for as long as someone like desjardins could possibly be so dumb as to send such incriminating text messages. Its pretty much a rule with any street person involved in anything illegal to either used prepaid burner phones which are swapped out ever few days and used to only contact 1 person on each line, or to be even more careful, to only speak about anything serious in person. Speaking on the phone is bad enough. But text messaging? Sounds like a bunch of amateurs. Bet he's regretting being a lazy ass and sending those traceable texts now.

Yesterday (October 1) at the CEIC commission inquiry into corruption in Quebec's construction industry, a former union executive--Ken Pereira--gave some interesting testimony. The article I've excerpted about his testimony (see below) cobbles together elements of union corruption, the Montreal Mafia, and the Hells. In particular, Raynald Desjardins is depicted by Pereira as the real boss of the FTQ-Construction union, as Desjardins was the Montreal Mafia's point man; this makes you question the theories that Desjardins had distanced himself from the Rizzuto clan as far back as 2005. Link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nati...article14653760Excerpt: Mob, Hells Angels bosses had close ties to union, inquiry hearsBY LES PERREAUX The Globe and MailPublished Tuesday, Oct. 01 2013, 11:54 PM EDT | Last updated Tuesday, Oct. 01 2013, 11:57 PM EDT A whistle-blower from Quebec’s FTQ-Construction, one of the province’s biggest and richest unions, has told the Charbonneau corruption inquiry that senior Mob and Hells Angels bosses were woven into the fabric of the organization’s top echelon. Ken Pereira, a union executive from 2005 to 2009, testified Tuesday that he always knew top union officials, including executive director Jocelyn Dupuis, were tight with Hells Angels. But it was a meeting in late 2008 or early 2009 at a Hilton in the Montreal suburb of Laval that he says he realized Montreal’s Mafia was really running the union. Mr. Pereira, who had been complaining about Mr. Dupuis’s lavish spending on booze and restaurant meals, was summoned to meet with reputed high-level mobster Raynald Desjardins, who explained he was there to settle “the issue with Dupuis.” Mr. Desjardins also explained that construction boss Tony Accurso and former FTQ-Construction president Jean Lavallée were now in charge of the union’s multibillion-dollar investment fund. “I got scared,” Mr. Pereira testified. “I understood what he wanted to say was that at that moment, I discovered that Jocelyn Dupuis, who I thought was the boss, wasn’t the boss. Raynald Desjardins was the boss.” ....

A few people on here talked about Montagna. He was ballsy, maybe too much so, you can't just walk into montreal and take over, he was a big player with the Bonanno's with him having a high rank at such a young age, saying that the family was in chaos at the time.

Here's another article excerpt about former FTQ-Construction union executive Ken Pereira's testimony at the CEIC about Raynald Desjardins. Link: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nati...article14658448Excerpt: Mobster with ties to the Mafia in spotlight at Quebec corruption inquiryBy TU THANH HA The Globe and MailPublished Wednesday, Oct. 02 2013, 12:40 PM EDT | Last updated Wednesday, Oct. 02 2013, 1:36 PM EDT A witness at the Charbonneau public inquiry testified that Raynald Desjardins acted as if he controlled FTQ-Construction On his first day at the penitentiary, in 1994, Raynald Desjardins made a point of shaking the hand of the warden in front of other inmates, assuring him that "all would go well." Mr. Desjardins, who was serving a 15-year sentence for cocaine trafficking, then proceeded to act as if he ran the place, getting involved in two murder plots and a conspiracy to poison the prison staff. The incident, which is documented in Mr. Desjardins' parole records, illustrates the cocky, velvet-glove-in-iron-fist style of a man described in court documents as a major Quebec organized-crime figure. Mr. Desjardins is in the news spotlight this week after a witness at the Charbonneau public inquiry described how the 60-year-old mobster acted as if he controlled FTQ-Construction, one of the province's biggest and richest trade unions. The witness, Ken Pereira, was a whistleblowing union leader who had been clashing with his boss, FTQ-Construction executive director Jocelyn Dupuis. Mr. Pereira testified that he was called around 2008 or 2009 to have brunch at a hotel. Ten thuggish-looking men stood at the door. Inside, Mr. Pereira was told that he would meet Mr. Desjardins and that he was to speak politely to him. Mr. Desjardins showed up and said: "Listen Ken, I don't know if you know me but I did 11 years in jail. I kept my mouth shut, I did my time and that's the way it should be." Mr. Desjardins said that he could get Mr. Dupuis removed because he didn't want to see more union feuding since "we've got more important business to do." Mr. Pereira testified that he got scared. "At that moment, I discovered that Jocelyn Dupuis, who I thought was the boss, wasn't the boss. Raynald Desjardins was the boss." ....

Crazy how Desjardins is a made guy. But ever since his release from prison in 2004 Desjardins has hit the ground running. He got all involved in union work at FTQ. He has big time power with Israel Emond in the Cherbrooke Hells Angels. Seems like Mirachi was like a right hand man to him. Very intrigued to see how it plays out..... has it ever actually been confirmed that he was a made guy? the only time ive ever seen him referred to as a made guy was in that article that came out after joe bravo died in sicily. im not sold joe bravo was ever really a made guy either, seeing that the only source saying he was made was himself. i always thought they both were high level associates. He was telling some very powerful influential dangerous people that he and Ray were made, "compare." Don't think he was selling wolf tickets, if he was....then he is where he deserves to be.
