Can someone please explain the connection between the film Scarface, and Hip Hop music/Def Jam (Whatever that is). Sorry to be so blunt, but I have absolutely no idea what any of this stuff means, or why people mention it in the context of Scarface. Thanks.

Raymondo, What has happened is that many of the rappers in music have "adopted" Scarface as a symbol for themselves! It's like the cool thing for them to have Scarface related clothes, decorations, etc. Although I am not into rap music, I have noticed that many of the rap artists haved basically adopted gangster names, persona's, etc. for themselves. There is a Luciano, a Bugsy, etc. Patrick, your expertise in this area is needed here! Where's Pat when you need him? Don Cardi
Don Cardi Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

If you insist on continuing this conversation about Rap groups and racism, then I suggest that you take it over to general! This is a thread about the movie Scarface! Not about rappers and racism!
Don Cardi [/b]As far as I'm concerned, this DOES relate to rap and gangsters. And of course, I know it isn't really any bit related to Scarface, but it's the only thing I could have found fast an' easy. Based on what is happening now with the murders of two of the biggest "so-called" gangster rap stars and the jailing of "labeled" gangster rap king pin, Suge Knight, the racist media of this country has jumped aboard the band wagon in saying that these two young Black men deserve to die the way they did, simply for what they were promoting in the lyrics of their songs.
