Despite being on nights i have dragged my weary bones out of bed because little Mattty has his Nativity play today. He is a wise man(the one with frankincense i believe) and i wouldn't miss it for the world. Been through it all with the big 3 and they are all magic moments.

Anyone else with special memeories of Nativity plays?

Don't remember ever seeing a Nativity play, but the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall, NYC has a great Nativity scene in the show. They even parade real animals across the stage with dramatic readings from the Bible. Very theatrical and moving. I'm sure most of us NY Metro folks has seen this show.

In some schools in the UK, Nativity plays have been banned due to Muslims being offended.. Whats the world coming too...

I bet the play was well worth the loss of sleep. I'm sure he played the part of a wise man well since he has one for a dad.

Aw, Yogi, you must have been the proud papa! My girls were never in a Nativity Play, but they did sing in many of their schools' winter concerts. Those memories are so precious.

They had the same music teacher since 1995, and when my youngest graduated from the high school this past June, I gathered pictures of all the school plays and concerts over the years and had them made into a collage for him.

We went when I was a kid, and all I remember was thinking, "a camel?!?!" (and, the Rockettes, of course )

He was excellent. I put a couple od pics on FB which some of you will have seen. I would have taken more but the school bans people taking pics and videos of other peoples kids and then putting it on FB, modern times i guess.

Funny thing was, as a wise man Matty had his own camel(well a boy in a camel suit, not to offend animal lovers) who had to stand behind him through the play. Now he had a naughty camel who kept bumping into him and knocking his crown off. Later in the play the camel finally calmed down a touch. How did you manage that i asked him later. "Oh i waited till we were doing a big dance number at the end and made sure i bought my heel down on his toes" he said.

Sooner or later all guys learn to deal with a camel toe.

My town could never put on an authentic nativity play because we couldn't find three wise men...or a virgin.

Funny how like minds think...Rockettes, Camel Toes....shame on us.

Well the little fella will be in Year 3 next Christmas, which means no more Nativity play but he moves onto the school carol service. I like the carol service cos the parents get a glass of sherry and a hot mince pie. Woo hoo

This doesn't involve a nativity play, but my wife's Montessori school put on their Holiday Show where the kids (infants through kindergarten) sang and acted. At the end of the show there were hot dogs, cookies, etc. and then santa arrived and the kids rushed to form a line to see him.

Among the first was a little girl from India. Her mom apologetically approached my wife and wanted to know if it was alright if she could see Santa even though they are not Christian. Before my wife could answer, Santa leaned over to the woman and whispered, "Hey, ma'am, my last name is Goldberg, so it'll be fine."
