No body, no crime.
Seems to me that the mob just has gotten smarter and is one step ahead of the game. Also remember that the Feds never arrest anyone overnight. They continue to build as much as evidence as they can over a period of time.
Look at the ICEMAN. He went years before they busted him.
Look at Tommy Pitera.
Those are just two examples.
Hypothetically right now the Feds could be having a meeting talking about people that are missing. We don't have a clue going on. What if there are bodies popping up somewhere that we don't know about? Anything is possible. We could see another big trial within the next 5-10 years. Anything is possible.

Mob killings where they make the body disappear are still very much in the minority. Only a few of them in the last 15 years or so - Ralph Coppola, Nick Cirillo, Tony Zizzo, etc. Yeah, this. I don't know how many times I've seen in the media claims that "mob hits today are much more careful, with victims typically disappearing for good". I don't think the Outfit making one guy vanish is indicative of a trend. It kind of reminds me of the whole "the Outfit is still killing lots of people but they farm the hits out to street gangs" thing.

The last known hit in NYC was Anthony Seccafico in 2009. Is it the case Ivy, or others who know more than me, that there hasn't been a hit carried out by the five families in New York in 3 and a half years? Or does this then add fire to the notion that alot of hits are now underground/hidden from view? That happened in NYC, yes. Of course, you had Montagna killed later on but that was up in Montreal. wasnt there a genovese associate who had his head caved in alongside his girlfriend for borrowing some money and not paying it back. You're talking about Louis Antonelli. He was not paying tribute to Anthony Antico and ended up being killed in the robbery.

Ivy do you think their are hits and disappearences we don't hear about? I'll be the first to say the mob doesn't whack someone out of the blue becauses it brings heat, but the list seems too short. Actually, a lot of people have been surprised by how long the list is, since there's the impression that mob hits are almost unheard of nowadays. Maybe "big name" hits but, as the list shows, there's several others that involve minor figures; some not really so much mob-related as personal beefs involving mob figures. Anyway, to answer your question, I'd venture to say the list is pretty inclusive. It's certainly possible there are some that don't make the news but, if there's any type of mob connection, the press will usually jump on that and report it. If anything, I'm probably missing others that are similar to the first two guys named. They were young kids involved in Galione's drug ring that ended up dead and dumped on the street.
