Congratulations to Turnbull for his 16,000th post.

Turnbull's been a consistent fixture of these boards for over eleven years now. He's the go-to guy for all things Godfather - and is the stalwart responsible for the conversational upkeep of that segment of the BB that many of us (including myself) abandoned or drifted from long ago (to those who don't know, the GangsterBB.net used to be "thegodfathertrilogy.net").

A formidable historian of the Mafia as well as of the US in general, Turnbull's presence here is second to none; my dad, who barely knows how to turn a computer on, often asks me if I "still keep in touch with Turnbull", and will even reference that one mysterious photo Turnbull posted years back, of him searching for a gun behind one of those old-fashioned toilets "with the chain thing".

For the class, consistency and intellectual standards, here's to a good man.

I second the motion. Always a gentleman and a scholar.

Add me to the list of his admirers as well. His knowledge of the GF is second to none but his knowledge branches out to so many different subjects. ie.. If I had a history question, he'd be the man I'd go to.

TB IS a good man. We are all fortunate to know him.

TB? Who is ...? Oh, yeah. Turnbull. Quite a fellow.

Meh.... of those 16,000 posts, three thousand were messages pointing out the exact model, make and year of cars in movies. TB would mention the size of the engine and available options while, to us mere mortals, all those cars were Studebakers.

The same with wine. Turnbull posts about different wines from different regions and bouquets but I happen to know that TB drinks Ripple from cardboard cartons.

Congrats TB. I really enjoy reading all your knowledge.

His is, quite simply, the best of the best on this or any onther website. My puerile sense of humor and often childish temper aside, it's Turnbull's intelligence and maturity that always draw me back here whenever I take a long (and often needed) break.

Until I saw his picture, I thought Turnbull was a crime reporter for a NY City television station, or he was a professor at Columbia University, or both.

TB, what can I say? You are, without a doubt, one of the smartest and well-read men I've ever met, plus you have quite the dry sense of humor. He even knows how to make wickedly good meatballs and sauce. It's been an honor and a privilege, my friend.

Looks like Turnbull has a limit of 16,000 for quality posts.

Turnbull has always been a unique and positive presence on the GBB.

I have always likened him to Mr. Ed, the talking horse on the old TV series.

And why? Simple. To paraphrase the lyrics from the show's theme song, Turnbull never speaks unless he's got something to say.

And, let me add that when he does speak, only a fool wouldn't listen.

He never flames or trolls; he's always articulate and informative. I've learned a lot from this man.

If he ever decides to part with his brain, I hope he'll send it to me. (Right now, I'm making do with the one labeled "Abby Normal"! )
