Searched the boards for Nicky Barnes and got 400 returns...within threads. No topic. ...now that just ain't right.
Look. I probably know less about this dude then most. Tho I mos def probably have the dubious distiction of being one of the few with a first hand account of the utter hell of the stuff that made Nicky famous. I don't blame this man for for my choices.
And the bravos I have for anyones putting his own addiction to the sword, his rebirth after being a powder fiend, is somewhat blunted that he then turned it on others.
That said, here the man speaks to Stern. Listen for yourself.
N..... or no, bastard had balls, shame to kill him... I got nuthin', I got nuthin...

Good stuff, VG. Barnes is an interesting character. He was a model inmate who would have gotten a Gravano like plea deal if he was pinched ten years later; and if he was, you know, white .

Very nice Vice. Harlem is one of the most interesting places in the world when speaking about gangsters. The 1930-1980 the place was a playground for the money makers and hustlers. Black hustlers were making money hand over fist dealing in heroin. Bumpy Johnson, Red Dillard, Mookie Jackson, Claude Helton, Goldfinger, Pop Freeman, Nicky Barnes, Guy Fisher, Pee Wee Kirkland, Cisco...the names go on and on...What time in NY history
why is he so reluctant to come out of hiding, if lucas and the rest of these guys can walk around in the open why doesnt he.
I find the interview between him and frank lucas funny because its just frank kissing his ass and barnes trying to be cordial when in his film he practically calls him a nobody.
I see some posters here go ape shet because someone posted something that was already posted months back..No need for that, it only discourages people from posting something that we might not have seen before !!

And they say Corrado lost his mind! Always knew it was an act!
DiLorenzo, remember a lot of people here don't have any authority in life so instead of helping a new poster along they play a role of authority! Gives them a rush, a sense of importance.

If someone responded to a question of mine with "use the search button" i'd tell that person to suckmydck
....Ahh anyways, I actually just read Mr. Untouchable only like a month ago it wasn't too bad of a read Nicky made millions in powder and he did a good job at insulating himself until the end of course
Nikcy needs to come out of witness protection already and do some interviews ...or do more interviews while in hiding. Id like to see his thoughts on Galante

Agreed. Did Nicky work with Galante at all? I know he says in the interview he got his pure stuff from Matthew Madonna and the Council cut it up and distributed.

I remember him talking about Galante in his documentary. How galante had this colonial mentality that he could do anything he wanted in Nicky's territory but he didnt really expound on it further

Guys, I don't wanna beat this to death. But I'm like a kid wit a new toy the more I uncover about this dude. This is the last, straight up, but ya gonna check this final piece which is, IMO, a fitting cap to the whole NB saga. Guy Fisher, supposedly the dude stickin Nick's lady, grew to be a larger legend in many ways then ol' Nick himself, till toppled by Nick's turning...anyway, there's heap of good stuff in this vid about Barnes and Fisher, Bumpy, Lucky Luciano, Schultz, LCN and Harlem back in the day as well as other fascinating bits of LCN lore...thanks for your indulgence...

Not really. Just how Nick and Matty met in Green Haven state prison and met back up when they were both on the streets and forged a heroin alliance that turned Nicky into a legend and Matty quietly made millions off him and the Counsel. Talks very little on Matty's beginnings on Pleasant Ave. and how his brother Frank got him into the heroin business

Thanks for the video, i liked the 60 minutes clips, i think that mob guy herbie was the suspect in vincent papas killing in the atlanta fed prison. He paid some black inmates to do it.
I like how Frank Lucus in American Gangster walks up to him in the street and shoots him in the head right in broad daylight in front of a bunch of hard-working residents of Harlem.
Random Poster:"I'm sorry I didn't go to an Ivy-league school like you"
"Ah I actually I didn't. It's a nickname the feds gave the Genovese Family."

His brother was a heroin supplier to a drug dealer that barnes worked for, so they knew each other then, and then met up in prison. When Barnes got out Madonna set him up with some heroin through his older brother. Matty was smuggling heroin from the far east when he was released and was selling it to barnes. They would use cars to exchange the powder and cash. I do believe that madonna was arrested a few years before barnes for drug smuggling, so i think barnes may have had to find a new supplier after that.
Of all the people who flipped this guy barnes might be the only one i don't blame..Yeah he caused a lot of suffering and should die in a prison cell, but he never rolled on his friends when he was convicted..he was doing his time like a man, until his closest buddies were either banging his girl, or doing nothing to stop it..and since he couldn't fight them from inside, the only way he could hurt them as much as they hurt him was to flip..Not saying its right, but they certainly weren't his ''friends''
