For whatever reason, that's where he wants to be at the moment. As much attention as he's been getting down there, imagine how much if he was back in South Philly.

Sure there are people who are retired down there, just like any place with warm weather year round. Boca is one of the most beautiful and wealthiest places in the world. The women there are unbelieveable. You have plenty of young women and mature women (Supermodel and porn star material) looking for a guy who is attractive with status and money, and Merlino can offer them that. You have beautiful golf courses, shopping, resorts, MLB spring training, private country clubs, restaurants, deep sea sport fishing, beautiful yachts, and you are not far from Ft. Lauderdale which has plenty of nightlife. There are plenty of things to entertain Merlino down there, and the weather is amazing. I wish I had a place in Boca Raton. The question should be "Why would he want to go back to Philly at all?"

My wife and I live in neighboring Delray Beach for about four months a year, and yes, there are still tons of 55+ retirement villages, but the area has gotten MUCH younger in the past ten or so years. It's a great place to live with a great arts, bar and restaurant scene, and an eclectic nightlife. It's not South Beach, by any stretch of the imagination, but so what? South Beach is insane. Living there today is like living on the Vegas strip. Nice place to visit and all that, but if you're over thirty you'll get bored pretty quick. Give me Palm Beach County any day. Golf courses, restaurants, great weather (except for the brutal summers). Re the picture of Merlino: First thing I thought of was the Sopranos when Old Carmine told Tony that "A Don doesn't wear shorts."
