Which scene makes you laugh when it probably wasn't supposed to? I laugh at the scene in GF II when Fredo arrives in Havana with the case containing $2million for the Hyman Roth deal. Firstly, the guy who opens the taxi door is wearing a suit that is about 3 sizes to small for him. Then Fredo tussles with the guy who tries to help him with his case. The scene contains a comic quality that I'm sure was unintended.

Well, to me, this is a no-brainer. They've just killed Paulie Gatto and they're changing cars, and Clemenza tells Rocco, "leave the gun. Take the cannolis."
Gotta give Coppola credit for realizing that even in a movie that basically celebrated violence, he needed comic relief. Probably even needed it MORE. Clemenza and Frankie are two WONDERFUL characters.
This is something that GFIII really, really lacked, by the way. Unless you were laughing at Eli Wallach throughout the film, as I was (except that he was unintentionally funny).
"Leave the gun. Take the cannolis."

Clemenza teaching Mikey how to make pasta, shoving in the sausages. I love when Enzo the baker visits Vito Corleone in the hospital... "It's me, Enzo, da baker. For yo faddah, for your fadda!" he sounds so funny! I also like it when... I forgot who tried to make the man at...I forgot who's wedding play Tarentella and he played pop goes the weasel.

A little comedy in a serious scene, when Vincent grabs his groin towards Joey Zaza when they meet with Micheal.
There was this kid I grew up with -- he was younger than me. Sorta looked up to me -- you know. We did our first work together -- worked our way out of the street. Things were good, we made the most of it. During Prohibition -- we ran molasses into Canada -- made a fortune -- you father, too. As much as anyone, I loved him -- and trusted him. Later on he had an idea -- to build a city out of a desert stop-over for GI's on the way to the West Coast. That kid's name was Moe Green -- and the city he invented was Las Vegas. This was a great man -- a man of vision and guts. And there isn't even a plaque -- or a signpost -- or a statue of him in that town! Someone put a bullet through his eye. No one knows who gave the order -- when I heard it, I wasn't angry; I knew Moe -- I knew he was head-strong, talking loud, saying stupid things. So when he turned up dead -- I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen -- I didn't ask who gave the order -- because it had nothing to do with business!

When in Godfather III Al Pacino says the famous quote "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" because when he says "pull me back in" the gesture he makes with his hands always cracks me up when I'm watching it with my friends.
Also in Godfather III when the heads of Mafia families are getting gunned down by the helicopter, and one don says "my lucky coat!" before he is shot. I don't know what either Mario or Francis were thinking when they wrote that... that even old don's have things like "lucky coats" that they would save if they were being shot at? That they're people too? It was kind of sad to see him die trying to save his lucky coat. I felt sorry for the guy. Mario and Francis did their job.

Senator Geary to Willi Cicci, "Could you amplify your answer a bit?"
Cicci, "Could I what?"
Especially the way Cicci says it crack me up all the time.
(I think that's Geary's line)
I always laught out loud when Santino squeezes Fredo's hand as Fredo tries to congratulate Michael on joining the Marines. And Fredo looks at Tom while rubbing his hand.

Yea, Cicci was another comical character. Don't you think he was sort of stereotypical of many people's perception of a "mobster"?? Perhaps how they were portrayed in older films? Many were portrayed as "dumb" (for lack of a better word) Of course I don't imagine too many were college educated back then tho hu? TIS

This scene is only in the Godfather Saga, but when Fanucci is exhortating money from the opera owner (with Vito and Genco watching)...
In this scene, the opera owner makes excuses for not paying Fanucci. Fanucci then offers advice to the opera owner to boost sales - see Sicilian songs not Neopolitan songs and then (the funny part), Fanucci begins dancing and humming Sicilian songs.
Of course probably the funniest scene is the slumlord who comes back apologizing to Vito - scared and totally apologetic.

There's also the bit in the helicopter death scene where one of the old Dons, covered in blood, shakes his fist to the sky and yells, "son of a BITCH!"
Cracks me up.

The opening scenes in the Don's office.
Santino's face when Bonasera is kissing Vito's hand...he raises one eyebrow in a gesture that suggests, IMHO, "Oh please, give me a break."
Santino's face after this exchange: V: Santino, go tell your brothers that I want them to come with me to visit Genco and pay their respects..... S: Ah, pop, Michael? V: All my sons.
Santino's face when Vito scolds him, "I think your brain is going soft....."

I laugh when the Mamma Corleone is singing at her daughters wedding. I have no idea what the meaning of the song is. Nor who the elderly man is. It always gives me a grin on the face
BTW, I am new here. My real name is Michael and I am from The Hague in the Netherlands. I hope that I can give a positive tribute to this great forum.

haha yeah I laugh at that too! Vince just seems so calm and happy about killing Joey Zasa that he says "Joey" before he kills him and "Zasa" afterwards. Also how Zasa's big crew member, Squiguilari dies. The KKK lookin' guy during the march in New York City is really a Mafia guy, takes out a shotgun, and blasts Squig right in the chest, and more than once I think. Violence can be a funny thing. And the deleted scene where Don Fannuci gets his throat cut is pure laughter! He's running around with like some white tray he's holding and making gagging noises while DeNiro just watches. It takes a while for Fannuci to get down the steps, cause for some reason, he runs around like a headless chicken before he goes down the steps. Anyone with the DVD who knows what I'm talking about can agree.
