I just don't understand the Jets strategy. They draft Sanchez, then they trade for Tebow, and now they draft Smith. What's this all about? Sanchez is a bust, and Tebow isn't an NFL QB. The team is a mess. They're getting as bad as the Browns.

Geno Smith fired his agents because (allegedly) he's pissed he only got drafted in the 2nd round. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000...o-new-york-jetsReally? Kid you're not the first QB to fall below your supposed draft stock value. (Boy Jets sure know how to draft and win the backpage, don't they?) Drew Brees slipped into the 2nd round. Joe Montana (believe it or not) into the 3rd. Aaron Rodgers was hyped up as a possible #1 overall pick, not drafted until #24. Another thread mentioned the bullshit which made Dan Marino the 6th and last QB drafted in the 1st round of the famed 1983 Draft. They all did alright. But hell, what about the QBs (or players in general) who were never taken seriously in the first place who got drafted in late rounds or signed as undrafted free agents? That Tom whats his name up in Foxboro with those rings? 6th round pick. Kurt Warner? Undrafted, cut by Packers at training camp, played in NFL Europe and Arena football before Rams signed him. Both were initially back-ups, lucky to have a roster spot and paycheck that Mr. Smith you've already taken for granted. Then fate gave both men their chance, and became future Hall of Famers. Mr. Smith, you have the right to feel snubbed. Many experts thought you would go 1st round, hell Top 10 possibly. But you didn't. But instead of whining about it, you should instead use this bullshit to motivate yourself and get revenge by kicking ass on the field. Make those other teams regret passing on you. It reminds me of that story about the L.A. Rams scouting for the 1961 draft. When viewing game film of several players they were interested in, they noticing this other player who kept showing up in all the plays, tackling the shit out of everybody. They never heard of him before, the other teams had no clue about him. But the Rams were impressed and decided to give him a chance with a 14th round draft pick. That other player? Deacon Jones.

Maybe the Jets will be the first team of London. The London Looneys. Or maybe Yogi B will start a petition to get them in Newcastle. The Jets may have passed the Browns (and the Mets) for ineptitude. There may be talk and hopes of getting a franchise over here one day (and that may well be pie in the sky) but if it is the Jets on offer, you can keep em Yogi - are you at Wembley this year for the Steelers/Vikings? If so we have to meet up this time at the tailgate and have a drink. I can't buy into England getting a franchise. Logistically it's impractical. As much as I love the opportunity to watch live NFL at Wembley I appreciate how much of a drain it is to the players and team and even the fans that miss out on a home game. Obviously business reasons mean we're lucky to get games here but even if we did adopt a team NFL fans in England already follow a team. Even if a team set up here in Manchester I would go to every home game, however I wouldn't have the affection for them as I do the Steelers.

Riley Cooper has to be thinking that he may have played his last game for the Eagles. His team-ordered separation from the team will become commonplace to the point that considering his return to the team will be an uncomfortable distraction. His return hinges on one question: Does his value as a player outweigh the the ill feeling and loss of goodwill that his racist outburst caused?
I don't put a lot of credence on his apology. If the remarks were completely unrepresentative of his character and beliefs, he would have apologized when it happened, and not when it became financially necessary for him to do so. Also, the slur flowed too easily from his lips as he uttered it with violent overtones. Using the word in the a heinous context was just as easy for him as saying, "Please pass the sugar." I don't buy the drinking excuse either. This is how most of Philly talks when they talk to there boys..Grew up hearing this..walk around south Philly. You will hear all day long. Not my thing but it is all around. Yea it is worse then what he said ..they flat out shoot . Certainly not in the context with which Cooper used it.
Cackling like a banty Rooster.
