I don't think Luca killed the infant because it had Irish blood. He tells Filomena (the old lady) that "That kind of people must be eradicated". Filomena wonders if he means the fact that the mother of the child is Irish or the fact that the mother is a prostitute. Personally I think it is the latter. Luca was a ruthless man, but he wasn't sick enough to kill the child because it was half-Irish. No he did it because the child was a bastardo.

Luca found a midwife Filomena in th emiddle of the night, and forced her at knifepoint to throw the chid intot he furnace (Back into the flames of hell from which it came) Luca didn't want a child period because he knew all he could give it was a horrible life. (2pac "All I Could give it was my debt and my last name")
2. WHile in jail for this crime, Luca slashed his throat with a shard of glass, the police revived him, and Clemenza told Vito of him, and Vito put the fear of hell in him, and Luca went to work as Don Corleone's bodyguard.
3. In 1931, shortly after Tessio killed Sal Maranzallo, Luca killed two Capone spies. (Hacked one to death, other suffocated on towel)

The book is better than the film as i have stated over and over again, but if you have watched the film first it compensates it perfectly
Cicci, a porta.
Could you get me off the hook Tom? For old times sake?
