Bradley Manning's court martial starts today. What are the opinions here?

The prosecution will have a difficult time establishing the elements of the most serious charge, giving aid to the enemy, but Manning had to have known that his prosecution for the most extensive leak of claassified information in the nation's history was inevitable.

It shows the thin line between whistle-blower and traitor, or truth and treason.

I regard him as a hero. He should be given a medal for letting out the truth. So many innocents have been killed in that stupid, money costing war it´s ridiculous. I really feel for the poor people living in Iraq and Afghanistan surpressed by the US troops. It´s time to end the war overthere. US has accomplished nothing by bombings and killings. The world is NOT safer today than it was before the war. It´s disgraceful!

It's not his place to smuggle out and release sensitive info like that. He really should be executed for treason. But at least give him life in prison.

I watched some news coverage on him. They had him in cell all day, and he was not even allowed to exercise. To make someone just sit in cell 24 hours a day is inhumane, weather he is guilty or not. To tell person locked up in that cell they can't move too much is more so.

He is a traitor and needs to be hanged

Too much nonsense is "classified." Manning took an oath and he broke it and he needs to pay the price. Thats the law. But he is no traitor. Too much truth is kept from us by the government, and it is wrong. It was all this secrey that got us into the mess in Vietnam, and apparently we learned nothing from it because it also has us in the mess we are in in the Middle East.

What was most harmful bit of information he released?

All i know about is the airstrikes that mostly killed civilians.

Brilliant idea, but I have a better one. Lets do some seret "enhanced interrogation," then put banboo shoots under his fingernails, flay him and then tie horses to eaach of his limbs and have them rip him apart. Of course this will be classified, and publically called a humane execution. then someone else can leak the truth, and then maybe we should hang HIM.

A firing squad would be sufficient.

He is no hero, more of a man who got used. I think he was talked into it by others who are now safe while he rots in prison.

Bradley Manning? Isn't he the guy was such a dick to Owen Wilson in "Wedding Crashers." I say hang him.

Same hguy, but he redeemed himself in The Hangover and in Silver Linings Playbook. Spare him.
