The novel says that Mike was discharged because of a disabling wound, and that he didn't know his Pops arranged the discharge.
I thought a disabling wound meant discharge in itself. What do you guys suppose Vito "arranged?"

Thanks for the input everyone. I just thought that a disabling wound meant discharge in itself. In movies, guys who get shot in the foot got sent home....oh wait, that was "A League of Their Own"...so, I don't know if that's an accurate portrayal.

(There's something really gross-sounding with that subject heading! )
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Well, a discharge more implies something you don't necessarily want to have come out of your body... this definition: A flowing out or pouring forth; emission; secretion: a discharge of pus. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.thegodfathertrilogy.net/emoticons/barf.gif) If that sounds sexy to some of yooz, then,... Most everyone here I think has been respectful to our non-English speaking comrades! This is, after all, the world-wide web, so there's no reason to be critical of anyone!

Ok boys and girls, pull your minds of out the gutter Well, first I don't know why Vito had to "arrange" a discharge. Michael was a captain, and officers can resign their commission any time they want. Second, he got some "disabling wound"? He certainly looked healthy to me. He never says, "Oh, my war wound, watch it Kay." Wierd.
