Hi everybody! As a great fan of crime movies and crime novels I'm writing to you with a request...I see you guys have enormous knowledge about the American Italian Mafia and I hope you can help me out. I am writing my Master Thesis and I need to describe the greatest crimes performed by the Cosa Nostra. I've already described the "Lufthansa Heist" known from "Goodfellas". Could you think of any other great crimes? Hope you can give me some clues I really count on your experience!

The Pizza Connection,over 1 bilion from 1975 to 1985 selling heroin.The Las Vegas Skimming.The Gallo-Profaci war;the Nardi/Greene war to the Cleveland Mafia;the 21 months trial to the Lucchese crime family's jersey crew ;the Third Colombo war;the Montreal gangland war etc etc only for indicate the most original.

Involvement in the killing of the Hypocrite Kennedy. The Outfit guys absolutely hated him and his brother. Tampa & New Orleans were also involved along with the most powerful Mafia group in America, the C.I.A.

Lufthansa was a one time robbery by a small group, led by associate James Burke. It would not necessarily be categorized as LCN crime, although I am sure they got a cut. Biggest crime money wise I think would be the gasoline tax skimming run by Michael Franzese. There is a lot of information available on it too.

I would have to say it's failure to pay taxes on their income. LCN as a whole probably owes tens of billions in federal and state income taxes.

They didn't steal the windows, they upped the fee charging 2 dollars more a window, if I am correct they did it on the installation but made it look like the manufacture had increased their price. They had again if I am correct someone in the housing authority and were able to outbid their competitors. It's part of Mafia history the Arista windows case.
