Hello all,
I am John Petosa, just joined the web forum here. Just wanted to introduce myself to all of you, so that you know who I am.
I am very much into the whole Cosa Nostra world, I have seen every movie and have read almost every book about Cosa Nostra be it a true life story or be it fiction.
However, I have yet to read The Godfather. I read the first few pages on the Amazon.com review of the book, and I must say, I noticed then that it is much more informative then the movie is about details. So I ordered the hardcover edition yesterday.
I must say, I have never been so excited about getting a book. I am not much of a reader, but I do read many books when they interest me. I could never read a book assigned to me to read in school, but these kinds of books keep me on my toes.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and to introduce myself. I wish all of you a blessed day and life.
God Bless, John

Welcome, John! Hope to see many thoughtful and informative posts from you. (And I like your avatar.) Yes, you should absolutely, positively read the novel. As you've already discerned, it's got lots more detail than the film(s). Mario Puzo was, above all, a great storyteller, and the novel contains some wonderful stories that didn't get into the film(s)--such as how the Bocchicchio Family provided Michael's safe passage from Sicily; the rise of Al Neri; how the Don arranged for Bonasera to get his revenge, etc., etc. (Turi and others: Amazon.com ought to give all of us a stipend for the business we've been sending them!)

Welcome aboard John ![[Linked Image]](http://www.thegodfathertrilogy.net/emoticons/wave.gif) !!! You won't be disapoint it by the novel. I was excited to have the book. I'm an avid reader and I read the book in four days! I liked the parts in the 30's myself. Giorgio Luigi Gambino.
