I whipped this list up very quickly but basically it is a ranking of the longest consecutive reigns for bosses of the Five Families. By no means at all is it conclusive as I had to guess on several instances, but I believe the numbers to at least be somewhere in the ballpark. Significant jail time and prolonged illnesses were not factored into the numbers.

And yes, I did use Wikipedia but only because it is the easiest place to find the boss lists and reigns. I started from the death of Maranzano, as it was the "true" birth of the Five Families as we know them today.

This is really just for fun/discussion, please don't take any of this as gospel:

1. Joseph Bonanno (Bonanno) 12082 [Estimation, figure fluctuates depending on whether you count his time "kidnapped" and in AZ. Still number one by a substantial margin, regardless.]
2. Joe Profaci (Colombo) 7570 [Precise]
3. Vincent Mangano (Gambino) 7156 [Precise]
4. Tommy Gagliano (Lucchese) 7094 [More or less precise, depending on if you believed he died in '51 or not]
5. Carlo Gambino (Gambino) 6455 [Estimation, I hacked off the last year or so from end of his reign as Castellano was more or less the boss by that point due to Carlo's declining health]
6. Tommy Lucchese (Lucchese) 5611 [Estimation, I took off a few months at the end of his reign due to his illness]
7. Anthony Corallo (Lucchese) 4791 [More or less accurate - I was not really consistent on cutting reigns off on either date of indictment or date of conviction]
8. Philip Lombardo (Genovese) 4518 [Definite estimation]
9. Frank Costello (Genovese) 4096 [Costello did due some time during his reign, but it was nothing more than a couple of months so I included it]
10. Joseph Massino (Bonanno) 3658 [More or less accurate]
11. Paul Castellano (Gambino) 3347 [Precise]
12. Vincent Gigante (Genovese) 3284 [Definite estimation, I ended this first run upon his initial indictment in the Windows Case]
13. Joseph Colombo (Colombo) 2809 [Estimation - I guessed late '63 as the start point at Valachi still had Magliocco as boss of the family in October]
14. Albert Anastasia (Genovese) 2379 [Precise]
15. John Gotti (Gambino) 2297 [More or less precise]
16. Carmine Tramunti (Lucchese) 2273 [More or less precise]
17. Vincent Gigante (2) (Genovese) 1825 [Second "reign" is a little questionable as I didn't know whether to combine the two due to his stint in jail before being deemed "unfit" to stand trial. Combining the two gives him ~5100 days, good enough for 7th]
18. Paul Sciacca (Bonanno) 1774 [Fairly accurate - Bonannos were a mess in the sixties and seventies so a good estimate was difficult to reach.]
19. Lucky Luciano (Genovese) 1664 [Accurate]
20. Steven Crea (Lucchese) 1361 [Estimation]
21. Victor Amuso (Lucchese) 1273 [Ball park number - I cut it off when Vic went on the lam]
22. Philip Rastelli (2) (Bonanno) 1201 [Rough estimate; this was Rusty's reign between his two prison sentences]
23. Natale Evola (Bonanno) 832 [Another "Bonanno" estimate]
24. Domenico Cefalu (Gambino) 770 [Estimate based on Capeci's article naming him boss to present day]
25. Carmine Persico (Colombo) 730 [Woof. The Snake was in and out of jail so many times I eventually just stopped calculating and settled on a figure. Rough estimate]
26. Vito Genovese (Genovese) 715 [Fairly precise]
27. Joseph Magliocco (Colombo) 496 [Estimate]
28. Philip Rastelli (Bonanno) 450 [Rastelli was almost as bad as Persico with the prison sentencing]
29. Gaspar DiGregorio (Bonanno) 365 [Total guess]
30. Carmine Persico (2) (Colombo) 261 [Very rough estimate]
31. Peter Gotti (Gambino) 0 [Ol' "One Eye" was in legal hot water for pretty much his entire "reign" so I really had no clue what to give him. Whatever the case, a ball park estimate would still place him in the same spot as he certainly wasn't free for more than a few months during his reign]
32. Michael Mancuso (Bonanno)0 [Precise, lol. Guy hasn't even been out of prison since his succession]

Joesph Zerilli, was the boss (or at least a front boss* depending on who you ask) of the Detroit mafia from 1936 to 1974 (38 years).

*He took over from William Tocco while Tocco went to jail, Tocco "retired" to Florida after he got out but some people say he had a lot of power behind the scenes afterwards.

This life of ours, this is a wonderful life. If you can get through life like this, hey, thats great. But it's very, very unpredictable. There are so many ways you can screw it up.-Paul Castellano (he would know)

Raymond Patriarca had a 32 year run from 1952 to 1984, that's a pretty good haul...11,500 days

5 years as boss doesn't seem like a good run but when you put it into days, I mean Scarfo was boss for around 1500 days and only 20 or so people were killed, so most of the time you were fine lol.

The title is actually 'Longest consecutive Reigns'.

Not 'Longest consecutive Reigns of the five families'

MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'.

Do you normally respond to the title or the post?
