alot of people are pissed, myself more than most. the thing is, its almost a waste of time trying to debate it on this site. on one side, a large group of people here will just go along with obama regardless of the issue. there are also some who will look so deep into the legal aspects of these things and go along with whatever is printed on a piece of paper due to their own interpretation of the constitution. on the other hand, there is also a large group who are very easy prey for buzzwords like "terrorist", "al qaeda" ect.
furthermore, it seems like most people who were in or near nyc on 9-11 are willing to go along with anything as long as they are told that it will help prevent another event. maybe its an age thing also, as some on here seem to be part of what i call the "cronkite generation" where they are still brainwashed by whatever news channel they see as fair and actually think that they are being told the truth and that the government has their best interests at heart, very sad!

NSA reads our emials, store al our phone cals and text messages has databases on our usps mail, has cameras and databases on our license plates where we go and when. WHY IS NO ONE PISSED ABOUT THIS??? im not a terrorist last time i checked. Content of secure emails may be obtained only by warrant. While there is an expectation of privacy in the content of telephone calls under stae and federal constitutional law, there is not an expectation of privacy in the mere fact that you made the call as the communication necessarily involves a communications company. And clearly anything posted on a blog, web site, social media, etc., is obviously fair game without need for a warrant. Local and state police taking surveillance of random car license plates in public does not violate rights as law enforcement may see, and in fact is obligated to see your license. The photo scans are electronically matched to a database of stolen cars or owners, who may have warrants. To blame it on Obama is silly. These measures began under the prior administration and the Patriot Act, which was praised particularly by conservatives. One measure of the Patriot Act, which I don't belive is constitutional, is the allowance of the government to record or listen to any call between a caller in the US and one in a foreign country without a warrant. This has not been challenged to my knowledge. It was also ironic that Bush proclaimed after 9/11 that these terrorists hate us because of our freedom, but the response was to restrict existing freedoms of all Americans. Yet I agree with Bush that the measures defined for the NSA are constitutionally compatible in gathering communications if a warrant is approved by an impartial magistrate. There have been some assertions that the body signing warrants is rubberstamping them. The NSA has an interest in validity of warrants as something less than that standard may jeopardize prosecutions in the future.

I was listening to a DFW local talk show the other day about local law enforcement perusal of license plates. A caller stated that to and from work he observes about 25 cameras. I thought he was referring to cameras on store fronts and parking lots. However, later in his call he upped the number of cameras he observed to 50 and went on state that he observed them attached to traffic lights and telephone poles. Low and behold it dawned on me that he thinks that motion detectors at intersections are cameras. Madonne!

Where were you in 2001 when the Patriot Act was voted on? Fact is partisan outrage/tolerance is in normal orbit. If we still had a Republican President, the right would want to lynch Snowden themselves and the Democrats would want to defend him. But because we havea Democratic President, Democrats tolerate it while segments of the right-wing are now outraged. I'm pretty sure your pain will ease away when Christie wins in '16.

Where were you in 2001 when the Patriot Act was voted on? in high school more worried about getting my end wet than politics. the thing is, 2 wrongs don't just cancel each other out when the freedoms and rights of citizens are concerned. it was wrong then and its wrong now. I'm pretty sure your pain will ease away when Christie wins in '16. yes, as long as there is an R next to their name i will be ok fyi, alot of people have moved past silly partisian politics, but some have not and will likely never, sad indeed.
