REMADE MEN; GOTTI ORDERED DO-OVER MOB INDUCTIONS

A New Jersey-based Mafia family flunked out of mob school.
The late Gambino boss John Gotti ordered the DeCavalcante family to repeat their inductions of "made" members because they failed to follow the rules during the original ceremonies - and considered them invalid.
Former DeCavalcante captain Anthony Rotondo said yesterday he and his associates so feared Gotti that they immediately obliged.
Rotondo is now a mob turncoat testifying in the murder conspiracy trial of Peter Gotti.
Peter Gotti is charged with plotting to rub out former Gambino underboss-turned-snitch Salvatore "Sammy Bull" Gravano, whose testimony put his brother John in the slammer until he died in 2002.
Peter Gotti also is charged with shaking down construction firms when he was the Gambino boss in the mid- to late-1990s.
Rotondo already was a captain and a made member of the family that considered itself the "real-life Sopranos" for eight years when he had to redo his induction ceremony at Gotti's behest.
He said John Gotti, who had virtually taken over the DeCavalcante family when he became Gambino boss, was an "orthodox" stickler for the secret rules to join the Mafia.
Gotti was angry when he heard the Jersey-based mobsters didn't follow procedures, such as for pricking their fingers and putting blood on a card, and putting a gun and a sword on the table.
"We didn't prick our fingers on a card. We didn't use knives and guns," Rotondo told jurors during his second day of testimony.
"Anyone who hadn't been made properly had to be remade," Rotondo said.
Rotondo said no one dared cross John Gotti because everyone feared that he would have them killed if they disobeyed.
Under cross-examination by Peter Gotti's lawyer Joseph Bondy, Rotondo admitted Peter is different from his brother John.
Rotondo testified to meeting with Peter and John Gotti's son, John "Junior" Gotti, at a Little Italy restaurant to discuss a dispute over money. Two Gambino members allied with Junior Gotti were threatening an associate of Rotondo, who feared for his life.
Rotondo said Peter Gotti then deferred to his nephew to meet again with him to settle the matter.
Rotondo testified to numerous dealings with the Gambinos, particularly regarding murders and the construction business.
Another mob turncoat is expected to testify that Peter Gotti and his cronies allegedly received $100,000 in payoffs from operators of Rockefeller Center's famous Rainbow Room to settle a labor dispute at the restaurant.
Former Gambino captain Michael "Mikey Scars" DiLeonardo is expected to sing that the Cipriani family wrote a $100,000 check to bring labor peace with its contractor and Gotti allegedly received $40,000 of the cut.
But a Cipriani official insisted that the firm did not deliver a kickback to the Gambinos, reported the Gangland News Web site.
John Gotti flunks the "Real-life Sopranos":
1. Former DeCavalcante captain Anthony Rotondo said members didn't have guns and swords on hand during their inductions into the crime family.
2. They didn't prick their fingers and burn ashes to signify they would burn in hell if they did not abide by omerta - the code of silence.
3. Gotti humiliated them by ordering them to repeat the ceremony the right way.
4. He considered the DeCavalcantes lightweights, and claimed their stake in several Staten Island businesses.
