I am 15 and I am really into the Godfather and Goodfellas and all that. I got the novel The Godfather last year, and I read about to the part where Michael goes to the hospital and realizes that no one is guarding his father. Then my mom founs out I had it and took it. Seeing the movies is easy, just go over to a friends house and watch them, which I have done. But the book is a little bit harder. Could you guys help me out with this? Ideas?
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

mate, first of all welcome. I assume you have seen the movie, and enjoy it. The book, tell your mother, really is no big deal. By today's standards, the film should be certified as a "15", not "18" (I'm not sure how US ratings go though). The book isn't as violent as the film. You are 15, so are the book is well suited to you my friend. I am 15 also. It is your parents' right to take the book, but maybe consider telling your mother that a book is a book, and in no way can it show as graphic images as the film, no matter how much detail it puts in. Hope you get it sorted, as the book really is a gem to read. Mick

Thanks Capo. I have seen the movies, and I will try explaining that to my mom. Thanks.

Hi, i am not a mother or anything but i can understand why she wouldnt want u to read the book if she didnt let you watch the movies butyou have seen the movies so i think that makes you entitled to read the book. you should read it has she seen the movies? cuz if she let u see the movies then you should def. read the book the book just gives you a more descripted outlook... tell her at least you Want to read...lol...most teens dont even no what a book is...lol....i have an idea....start reading the newspaper and then after a couple days....tell your mom that you have been reading it tell her that reading the godfather would be less violent then what is going on in the world today....lol....good luck!!!!!!! ~teresa

I have a 14 year old son, GF, and damn, I'd be happy to see him reading any book that he didn't have to.
Anything to get him away from TV and video games.

I read the book last Januari (Got it for christmas ) and my folks didn't mind at all, they were actually glad I was reading the book, its much more better than watching TV and playing videogames, to be more frank, I happen to find videogames (And alot of the recent TV-shows) much more violent than the book.
