My question is on typical days for mobsters particularly in north america do they fight / beat people? or at least witness that sort of activity regularly? And when I ask that I mean do these guys do that stuff or witness it daily because of their line of work and business and not just because of personal reasons.
Or is that type of behavior not very common most days.
And I realize boss's and higher ups won't be the ones to be doing that stuff generally anyways. So I would be prob be more curious for the lower level guys if violence / fighting / beating / intimidation can be expected daily occurrences for them or not?

theres been a few cases recently involving associates beating a man with baseball bats and then another slashing a guy in a bar. But maybe they didn't mean to beat him? For example maybe they were having a pickup basebll game and he accidentally stepped in front of the batter and his injuries appeared as if he was beat when it was all an accident? Jk but that is interesting and goes to show that that sort of activity still occurs.

It happens more than it's reported but it's not the 50s either My uncle was sent to Rikers for beating a man with his cane.

I'm going off the assumption that gambling, loan sharking and extortion are still the bread and butter of the street guy. And in all three, the key to collecting is violence or the threat of violence.
And I assume that the mobsters with 6-7 figures outstanding on the street have full time thugs on the payroll, whose primary jobs are to intimidate and slap around late payers.

Your guess is as good as mine. However, I believe capos have millions on the street; for some, the yearly interest might run into 7 figures. For example, in Philip Carlo's biography of Gaspipe, when some of the Lucchese capos were whacked or disappeared into witness protection, Casso or Vic Amuso took over their shy business. And some had multimillions on the street. With that much money on the street, I'm anticipating weekly beatings.
On a side note, loan sharking was involved in the violent Billy Batts scene in Goodfellas. Supposedly, Billy Batts had a nice shylock business that he left behind when he went to jail. Jimmy the Gent took it over. When Batts came out, he wanted it back. So, Jimmy would have to give it up or have Batts whacked. I believe that's why the movie had Jimmy directly involved in the the murder.
Here's an interesting tidbit about Tommy DiSimone's murder: Jimmy was protected because he was such a solid earner. However, Tommy tried to rape Karen Hill, and Paulie Vario sacrificed him to keep the peace.

Firstly Phil Carlo is a degenerate liar. I remember reading all this shit like casso was there writing the words himself... Shit that just didn't happen... Or exaggerated..
Shylocking is still a huge money maker... The biggest currently I've heard of was 2m on the street. But at that point your a shylocks Shylock. Your a bank for the most part... To other shylocks in ur crew or in another crew. A million on the street can be 5-6 customers... It could be 30. Famous Examples-Danny Marino & his crew (watts, lombardozzi, scotto)... Corozzos crew, joe zito, bill cutolo, Andy Gerard, ninny/Larry fab, Danny Leo, Tino F, Allie shades

lol, I cannot disagree. However, it's unclear who the liars are. I believe that guys, like Casso and Kuklinski, told tall tales to Carlo and he wrote everything as if it was fact. That's why I consider the Gaspipe and Iceman books to be closer to ghost written autobiographies, than biographies. Carlo interviewed these guys, and wrote down whatever self serving crap they said as fact.
