With Halloween quickly approaching, thought maybe we could share odd/unusual stories that we have experienced. You know, the unexplainable? Here's mine which happened about a year ago. I was, I guess you'd say, in a half awake/half asleep state (best way to describe it). For some unknown reason I see the outside of a house that I KNEW was my great aunt's from Flat rock MI (yes there is a Flat Rock MI) As I recall I was only there a couple times as a kid. AND, my relatives no longer live there BUT my entire family always refers to them as cousins from Flat Rock, even still. When I completely awoke, I chuckled to myself wondering WHY in the world would I think of that house. For some reason it baffled me and I even told my daughter about it and said "If I hear ANYTHING at all about Flat Rock MI, I'll be freaked out." A day or two later my brother calls, and first thing he says is "I've got some bad news from Flat Rock." Whoa!!! My cousin had a heart attack (she survived thankfully). I was kind of speechless and told my brother about my dream and he was kind of surprised but it still is amazing to me. TIS

The only creepy thing that's happened to me in the last few years, is when i get sleep paralysis about 2 or 3 times a year i'm sure anyone here who's had it can vouch for how horrible it is. A few creepy things that happened when i was very young (5-9 range) that i now chalk up to my imagination. When i was about 6 or 7 while visiting my cousin who's 2 years older than me, we got trapped in the lift and the lights went out what was apparently common because i'd been stuck in those elevators before , after about a minute we heard the x files theme tune , i imagine it was the concierges just having a laugh at 2 childs torment . This one didn't actually happen to me it was my sister, told to both of us by my mum and aunt. Supposedly on my sisters 6th birthday, my aunt bought her pygamas (cheapskate ) she was wearing them all night then came in without them on. So my aunt asked why she had took them off and she said Granny Sarah doesn't like them, the weird part is that my gran Sarah died when she was 1 and 2 years before i was born . The last one was without a doubt imagination, but i nearly had a heart attack even though i was a healthy 10 year old . There's not much to it, i was looking for my dad and my house has 4 floors so it's quite easy for us to miss each other, i couldn't find him so i went to the toilet without a lock and i heard him (imagination ) say "i'll be out in a minute son", then i got to the bottom of the stairs just while he was walking up .

".. executed 22 years ago. I did my best to defend him. I had very little evidence. Somehow I always knew he would .." Come back and torment me. I can only pray that.......... Camarel, Great stories. AND, I too in recent years have experienced sleep paralysis and it is scary as hell. I didn't know what was happening the firs time. I did research and find it is not uncommon. TIS

TIS It's supposed to happen when you're seriously stressed or haven't slept enough. The worst time i had it was my 18th birthday me n my friends stupidly stayed up nearly 3 days partying, the rest of the night i went from sleep parlysis to actually sleeping. During the sleep parlysis i, constantly heard dogs barking and imagined my worst fear spiders crawling over me . The moral of this story is don't stay up for 3 days straight

I used to think that my sleep paralysis was just a function of dreams or emotional or psychological phenomenon. However, during the last episode I suddenly woke up and through blurred vision saw my wife backing away from the side of the bed with a syringe in her hand. Ha ha ha!! Doing her Nurse Rachid rountine? TIS

I've posted my odd experiences in past threads. One was where I had three vivid dreams of my best friend's girlfriend at the time being involved in a car accident. In the first dream I drove past the wreckage, and in the scond I witnessed it from the opposite highway lane. In the third dream I was in the backseat of her car when it happened. I had mentioned the dreams to several people, including my then girlfriend and now wife, who called me the afternoon of the third dream that the girl had been in a serious car accident on a highway in Jersey.
The other involves my sons. When the older boy was 2-3 years old he had an imaginary friend, Bobby. When my younger son was 2-3 he had an imaginary friend, named Bobby. We were then living in a different house, and he was in his room carrying on a conversation with his pretend friend when I asked him questions about Bobby. I asked my little boy where Bobby sleeps, and he answered, "He doesn't sleep here. He sleeps in a box in a church." My wife's jaw dropped and I had a good laugh.
These incidents are just coincidences and oddities that make interesting stories.

Not really creepy or strange, but a few might recall that I have posted in here that I have a serious phobia of snakes. Yesterday we were in town as a family (kids on a half term break from school) and we ended up in a local museum with a creepy crawly exhibition going on for Halloween. Yes there were snakes and after much hesitation I touched one and then held one. It was a python of some variety and I was much pleased that it didn't try to strangle me. Talk about conquering your fears. I was very proud of myself and the plus point was that my underwear wasn't totally ruined. Some of those brown stains will come out in the wash my wife says At least you have a normal fear, I have a fear of hills, the ones that come from mother nature that are attach to the earth. It's just a weird fear a got a few years ago. Besides that I'm not the biggest fan when it comes to animals they terrify me I always think their going to kill me.

Snakes give me the creeps/chills Ewwww. Along with mice, rats, bats, they just terrify me. One time at work a mouse ran by my desk. I immediately screamed and stood on my desk. Would not relax til the custodian got rid of it. My co-workers laughed but I don't care. I hate them. Another story...a couple weeks ago my church had its annual festival which I took my grandkids to. They had scheduled a "Reptile Show" (thought of it makes me cringe) but I knew my grandkids would like, so I took them the day of that show. I backed away and went to another area as they oohed & ahhhhed over the slimy things. When I returned to check on them, my granddaughter (9 yrs) had a huge ugly snake wrapped around her. Holy crap I thought! She's smiling and happy. I'm thinking "girl, you're flippin' nuts. TIS

This goes back to the late 80's when I was doing some municipal inspections in Chicago's South Suburbs. This particular house was in Glenwood, Il. Typically speaking an appointment would be made by the dept. of public works with the homeowner for me or a rep from the company I worked for to inspect the home at the homeowner's convenience. This particular appointment was no exception and the day was unremarkable up until I arrived there. It was an early Autumn day, the Sun had been out and it was a very pleasant day.
I parked in front of the house on the street and as I did the clouds seemed to converge and darken everything. I sat in the car until the exact time of the appointment and I remember getting a kind of down feeling just being there. A few minutes later I was at the front door ringing the bell exactly at the time of the scheduled appointment. There was no answer after ringing several times and knocking. I remembered seeing a side entrance from the driveway and decided to give that door a try. There was a bell on that door as well so I rang it with no result. I opened the stormdoor and knocked, the door creaked open a bit. Any further progress opening was blocked by what appeared to be shoes or feet. There was no answer. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The chill still runs through me...

dgvc63, Ha ha!! That is freaky. I'd be off & running too. They were probably shoes by the door but I wouldn't stay to find out. TIS
