If this is a casual gathering then it wouldn't surprise me to see a son or nephew or something to that affect there. It doesn't appear to be an Outfit-exclusive gathering. It's very possible that some of these guys are civilians. Also, it looks like some women (wives/girlfriends?) are in the background although it's not known if they are with Accardo and friends. If they were, it would not be out of the ordinary for the times to have the men together on one side and the women together on another.
The location could also be a clue; Fosco stated that the location that it was somewhere to the northwest of Chicago (can't remember his exact statement) and Amato and Potenza - two guys who operated out of that area for the Outfit - are apparently present. Maybe some of the guys are operatives out of that area who don't have existing photos. I think this is something we're all taking for granted. Good chance some of these guys simply won't be identifiable because they aren't known or are civilians. Sam Destefano was, without a doubt, made. Snakes is correct, its an urban legend that he was not. I think there's a very good chance that sunglasses is Mario.

Yeah, but Centracchio wasn't even on the radar at that point. I think there were probably quite a few people on their radar that we still don't know about, so I'm not going to venture to guess when Centracchio was on it. After all, a lot of these guys knew each other from childhood, and in 1959 he was 30 years old, which to me is old enough to have been known. Whatever the case, he does look quite a bit like the young guy in the photo.

That's either Sam or Mario, most likely Mario DeStefano... I'm about 95% sure.
-I shot him a coupla' times. -What's a couple? -Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times? -Maybe fifteen? -Hmm, it could've been fifteen...

He ended up aggreeing to testify. He said, Accardo was retired, they were just friends, and they never talked business together. He claimed to have a bad ticker and the feds were instructed to limit his interrogations to 15 min at a time. I think they were just fishing with Palermo and decided to move on.

Here's all I've heard: While testifying, Volpe admitted there had been a burglary. In Wayne Johnson's book, there is a brief statement saying the police believed Volpe helped the burglars. I believe the first reason is more plausible. Having worked for Accardo for decades, he surely would have known better than to cooperate with these burglars. Also, Accardo's wife and daughter both testified they knew nothing about a burglary. Thanks to PK for the follow-up about Palermo.

Just seeing this photo for the first time. Not sure if this has been determined here but number 5 is Nicky Palermo and the event is probably the plumber's picnic that he hosted back in those days. I believe one of his daughters married an Accardo. He was also father-in-law to Frankie DeLegge Sr. Palermo ran a burglery crew out of Melrose Park. A very reliable source told me that at one point JB was talked out of whacking Palermo. Don't know what Nicky did to piss Tony off. Interesting theory on the background of the picture.

then volpe made a serious mistake, surely, accardo told him not to say there was a burglary. there must be more to this about volpe, he just could not be that stupid. could he? I have always suspected that he might have been a little senile. He was a 75 yr old goombah doing odd jobs and picking up trash on JB's lawn.

He may have said something unintentionally or was just not in his "right mind." Poor guy........really sad.

So to update my list, here it is: Here's my guesses: 1. Joe Amato 2. Accardo 3. Rocco Potenza 4. UNK 5. Nick Palermo 6. Anthony Centracchio 7. UNK (looks like Cowboy Mirro) 8. James Adduci 9. Jack Cerone 10. Sam DeStefano
think thats the best guess we have so far. Don't think i ever saw a picture of mirro, so no clue. And i think we all agree, 10 is a DeStefano, either Sam or Mario

Looking back through the thread, on page 2 I posted that Antillar had 5 guesses right on the ANP thread. He posited: "Here's my list of names, from left to right: 1. Joe Amato 2. Joe Batters Accardo 3. Queenie Simonelli 4. Joe Gagliano? (smiling man with cap) 5. Rocco Fischetti 6. unknown (younger handsome man smiling) 7. unknown (man with back turned) 8. Nick Palermo 9. James Adduci (with glasses) 10. Jackie Cerone 11. Willie Messino (smiling man with sunglasses and cigar)" Which leads me now to believe that Fosco was giving him credit for merely getting 5 names correct without regard to order. Four of those 5 he got credit for would have to be: Amato, JB, Cerone, and Palermo. So who's the fifth? Knowing what we now know (or think we know, lol), it's not Simonelli, Fischetti, or Messino, and Fosco told me that Gags was not in the pic, which means Adduci is indeed probably #8. Therefore,we're left with: 1. Amato 2. Batters 3. Potenza 4. ??? -- Infelice or Ferriola? 5. Palermo 6. ??? -- Centracchio or Pranno? I'm leaning Pranno. 7. ??? -- Anybody have any decent pics of Cowboy? 8. Adduci 9. Cerone 10. DeStefano Getting closer...

I have come to the conclusion that Fosco is guessing and we can't take any thing he says as gospel. #3 he says isn't Simonelli, because he wouldn't be with this high level crowd. He also says it's Pranno. No who ever saw Pranno would ever confuse him with Potenza or Simonelli. The guy looked like Herman Munster fer cripes sake. I think he wants this to be a shot of another Apalachin, but I think it might just be a bunch of mobsters drinking beer. Simonelli would have an excellent reason to be there. He was Joe B's brother in law, his regular job as Martin Accardo's sidekick was on hold while Martin was in prison on a Tax beef, and was possibly already living in Tony's guest house (he was certainly in there by '63). As for Joey Gags, I had written him off, but in every picture I had seen he looked like such a mope. Then I saw this one of him smiling. Put a cap on him and make him laugh, and I see #4. Somewhere out there is a '52 lineup photo of Cowboy Mirro. It was evidence at the McClellan hearings and a copy passed through the hands of Binder and was auctioned off in '06. I'll keep looking.
