Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO3l6qNA2Q4&frags=pl%2Cwn R U kidding me??,,I was just listening 2 that last night...brings back memories of when I was in a metal band in the 80s,,can play it with my eyes closed...(elec. guitar) very heavy & moving!! James & Kirk were a killer match. 80's Metallica is the only Metallica afaic! I'm still a huge metal fan, even though I no longer look the part in day-to-day life (I still own a huge collection of metal records from many subgenres...classic, thrash, death, black, doom, sludge, folk, prog...). I was at this country's big 4-day metal fest 2 months ago and during one of the afterparties the DJ started playing this song...place went wild!

LOL. LMAO Ride the Lightning might be my face Metallica album, tho I love Kill 'Em All, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All as well. Sludge is somewhere on the crossroad between doom metal and hardcore punk, even though there's multiple variations of the style; there's the straightforward nasty stuff (Eyehategod, Buzzov*en, Grief...), the grungier stuff (Melvins, old school Alice In Chains...), the tormented and morose stuff (Crowbar...), the more southern Skynyrd influenced stuff (High on Fire, Kyuss, Down - which features Anselmo from Pantera...), the schizophrenic stuff (Acid Bath...), the atmospheric stuff (Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna, Rosetta, Amenra...), the droning stuff (Sleep, Electric Wizard, Khanate, Burning Witch, Corrupted...) as well as nowadays you got a new kind of Americana-influenced sludge (old school Mastodon, Cobalt...) as well as a specific nasty type of Chicago sludge (Lord Mantis for instance)... Pantera was one of my gateway bands. I still like their stuff quite a bit. Old school Slayer is one of my faves.
