I don't like most of DeNiros recent stuff but know he's a great actor and he sounds perfect for this role. I much prefer him in a good drama. The same with me, TIS. Too many of his recent roles blend into one (they're all the same). This one is similar. They portray Madoff as a controlling force over his family and that is tailor made for DeNiro's "disgusted" face (that he seems to use all the time now). The movie itself was OK, but just barely. You won't walk away from this feeling any sympathy for Madoff (not that he deserves any) and I'd recommend it to anyone who just wants to learn what this whole mess was about. But don't expect to be entertained by it. Thanks for the heads up SC. Yea, I DO want to learn more of what happened. I'll look at it more as a history lesson. LOL TIS

I'm planning on watching. I do have HBO "On Demand" and hope to see it at my leisure. I don't like most of DeNiros recent stuff but know he's a great actor and he sounds perfect for this role. I much prefer him in a good drama. Did you see it? TIS TIS, Haven't seen it yet. Going to watch it on once the NBA Finals are done. When/If you watch it, please let us know what you thought of it. I prefer reviews from real people over the "critics' reviews" Speaking of which, thanks for the rundown,SC. Is it the same disgusted face that Jimmy Conway had when Johnny R. kept explaining the pink cadillac?

Foot, Johnny Roastbeef beat up Kareem? Is that why he started taking lessons with Bruce Lee? Bobby Deniro is a fake Italian now,Foot? Did he campaign for Diblasio or something?

He was 7 ft tall in high school. John kept hitting him in the balls. After Kareem he was Still lew then UCLA he got a big signing bonus with The Milwaukee bucks. He came to a brokerage house I worked for when I was a kid Kleiner Bell. He invested his money on a stock they were pushing. He lost all his money I shock hands with him there. I told him I saw him play at st.helena's high school in the Bronx. It later became Monsignor scalan. Everyone in the brokerage house was Italian except the box people they were minorities. I lost money myself on that stock about a thousand.
One of the box men was a friend of Wilson picket. I told the guy I was a big fan of his music. So I took them both out to sloppy Louie's for lunch. That's exactly what I pictured the fight to look like. A short little Italian guy punching a guy's waist or however you put it. So friggin funny, Foots. That's a shame everybody lost money. Live and learn. You know how we got a ton of celebrities out here. Well, my friend's friend was a nanny for Magic Johnson. She said he was a really nice guy but NOBODY is allowed near him when he sits down to eat. His wife is a sweetheart she said. The only basketball star I shook hands with was Sean Elliott saw him at an Angels game and got an autograph for my friend's nephew. Early 1990's. Kobe Bryant was at the circus with his wife and baby when I took my kids early 2000's. Didn't approach him though. Great story as usual, Foots. What and where is Sloppy Louie's?

Moe's article he posted is on topic, only someone who watches mob wives day in and day out, might be offended. I don't watch Mob Wives. Maybe you do but these women are an embarrassment to the Italian-American people. So, you better watch your step with what you say. You're nothing but a bullshit artist anyway. I have real stories about real Italian people and wiseguys in the neighborhood. What do you have? Why don't you add something informative about your Italian family who came here to the states to the 1900 immigrant thread? Oh it's because you can't. Well, I can and I did. Edit: wrote 1990 instead of 1900 half asleep lol That article was very inappropriate.

The Smithsonian Channel ran an excellent documentary commemorating the 25th anniversary of the L.A. Riots. One of the darkest moments in the history of our nation. I still can't quite believe that the officers who beat Rodney King were acquitted and how long the L.A. police abused blacks dating back to the Watts Riots. Thanks,Goombah EXCELLENT so far. I like the format. *I don't have that channel, but they have the full doc. up on their youtube channel.

Gets,
If you haven't seen it yet, the OJ documentary "Made in America" is phenominal. Many of the same people were involved in the LA Riots coverage (Gil Garcetti, the TV helicopter guy shot footage of Reginal Denny's beating AND OJ's slow speed chase, plus lots of LA cops/media/civil rights advocates).
I think the OJ documentary may be the best doc I have ever seen. When it was first advertised, it was of no interest to me. My sis-in-law recommended it when I saw her over the holidays.
The basic premise was that OJ never considered himself as black until he was on trial. At least one juror admitted that she voted to acquit in part as retribution for the Rodney King acquittal. A jury consultant stated that the prospective jurors found more fault with Nicole as a white woman who married a black man than for OJ beating her. Another unforgettable comment was that if OJ had killed his first wife (who was black), he would have easily been convicted.
It's a fascinating documentary. If I was a sociology professor, I would show this in my class every semester.

Dead Presidents is a very good movie. Came out in 1995. Never saw it until recently. Excellent cast. Lots of funny scenes and quotes even thought it's categorized as a crime drama action type movie. I remember liking it when it came out but haven't seen it in 20+ years, so a revisit would be timely. The war flashbacks are what stuck with me the most. The Hughes Brothers previous movie, Menace II Society, was outstanding.

Recently, I watched another movie from years ago, came out in 86, called River's Edge with Keanu Reeves, Crispin Glover, and Dennis Hopper. It's based on a true story. Strange movie but worth watching. Ever see it?

Another blast from the past: Jaclyn Smith, one of the original Charlie's Angels, is 71. Wow! She's 71!!! I always liked being Kelly when I used to play Charlie's Angels as a kid lol. I just watched the Darlin' episode of Big Bang Theory. Do you realize that the surviving Beach Boys would all be in their 70s? Madonne! Where does the time go? Why do we have to get old? Why can't we all live in the endless summer?

Just re-watched season 4 of Breaking Bad and was yet again incredibly impressed by this man's acting, simply superb.. My favorite character of the entire show.
