Jilly Greca is one of those guys you will never see a photo of. Same goes for Maranzano and "Billy Batts" William Bentvena.

Not sure if it is connected BUT, when you watch the Iceman interviews (Richard Kuklinski)....He tells this exact story about how he was on a motorcycle, he pulls up to a stop light and says to the guy in the vehicle, "Cuban?".....He said the guys response was, "Fuck You"......then the Iceman pulled out his gun and said, "No, Fuck You!", and shot him in the face.
Now I know that a lot of what Kuklinski said was false BUT, a lot more of the stuff he said actually did occur. They have the news reports to back a lot of it up.
I always thought he may have been linked to this but, Greca was with the Colombo's and not sure how his association with the Gambino's would be linked.
When did Greca get whacked? If it happened after Pistone's revealing, then it is quite possible he died for letting DB in to their life.

He was under indictment due to early intelligence provided by Pistone (at least according to Pistone). Indictment for what and by whom? Brooklyn or Manhattan feds? Brooklyn or Manhattan DA? I know this question has been asked before but if there was an indictment made, nobody has yet found it. Was Greca under investigation and possibly facing indictment instead? In nest of paranoid Colombo killers who knows? Yet Pistone in three books and Jules B in his mostly dogshit one never say... What gives?

Nah, I think the Iceman's first hit must have been the Carmine Galante one. lol.
-I shot him a coupla' times. -What's a couple? -Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times? -Maybe fifteen? -Hmm, it could've been fifteen...

Here is the clip about the Iceman talking about his first Mafia murder for hire. I seriously think it happened in 1980. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXgi72W2H7UListen to clip at: 1:50:40 Does anyone else think he may be talking about Greca? No.

Anyway, to be more productive, here's a part from Donnie Brasco: Unfinished Business: I was with Jilly’s crew around 1976 or so when Jilly got made. In 1980, a year before I came out, Jilly Greca got whacked. High among the host of risk factors for getting whacked was getting indicted. A man under indictment is a man under pressure. The fear is that the man may fold under pressure. When a wiseguy rolls over he is said to have gone bad. The idea is to get rid of him before he goes bad. If the man is only a so-so earner to begin with, his loss is no great loss. Jilly Greca’s scores were never very big ones when I was with him. Jilly got indicted and Jilly got whacked. The evidence for the indictment against him was based on intelligence I had gathered and supplied to my handlers. Looking back I can see that Jilly Greca’s death was the first one the Donnie Brasco operation had caused.

Pistone being such a stooge for the Feds, I mean who would do such things for a Job..... or ALL THE FUCKIN STOOGES WHO FELL FOR HIS BULLSHIT. DP

Exactly, they should have grilled that fuca for at least Two years on the origins of his name ( FIRST & LAST) before they even considered makin any money with him.
I mean really, Donnie...."how do you get that tag" whats your real first name and who is it or what is it derived from? Check that out Alone and it, his story, crumbles.
I understand and agree its real easy to be a armchair Quarterback,,,,,but please, how desperate were these guyz, ..... ? Donnie Brasco, Jewels, that look???

I agree with everything, but in the beginning, he looks like a fool, with the mustache and the sunglasses and shit. But there's photos later on in the operation where it seems like he actually copied certain guys style, there's a picture of him standing on the street with Sonny Black, I think it was the same day he got the contract to hit Bruno, and he doesn't look out of place at all, from the way he's standing, to his clothes and his demeanor, he's leaning on a car, but you could tell he knew they were taking pictures as he's the only one staring in the direction of the agents camera's.

C'mon guys, it was enough to fool the Bonannos in the 70s. His cover was that he was an orphan, now how the hell would they look into his family name and origins?
I've always thought Pistone came off as the kinda guy who loves smelling his own farts, but you gotta give him credit where credit's due... his undercover op was unparallelled and unprecedented either in length or success. That said, I do think he's way too indoctrinated into the government bullshit.. sometimes I think he doesn't even realize that all he did was help weaken the mob in favor of a much bigger mob.
And believe me, I can tell he's felt pretty guilty about Sonny's death, he just doesn't admit it in his book, using "I was just doing my job" as the rationale, which is not unlike the rationale used in the Nurenberg trials, even though it isn't exactly a fair comparison. He always tried to steer clear of psychology and morality in his books, even claiming that he felt nothing at all about the aftermath of the operation.. well if that's true he's either a horrible liar, or a much bigger sociopath than most mob guys.
