Its a good guess that the Genovese power base is currently NJ and the northern NYC suburbs. The historical Genovese strongholds within NYC are transformed. There is most likely more Genovese activity in Lodi and Rutherford, NJ, than Morris Park Avenue and their traditional Bronx enclaves. But that's just my guess. And who really knows. Vince's domain was downtown, but the actual Westside powerbase over the past fifty years made the jump from East Harlem to the Bronx to Westchester County. And yes, out to Jersey. But there are still FAR more heavyweights in that family living and operating out of the New York suburbs than in the entire State of New Jersey. Trust me, it's not even close. But that's not to diminish their influence in Jersey whatsoever. The Feds had Angelo Prisco down as a Jersey captain while he was living in Yonkers and had his powerbase in Westchester Square. See my point? And you make a fair point about Morris Park Avenue. Albanians and Latinos make up the bulk of Morris Park today, with a small portion of Italians who are either too old and set in their ways to leave, or because they were left behind for financial reasons. That's one Bronx neighborhood that has seen more change since the late '80s than just about any other area of the borough. It's honestly shocking. But times change, demographics change. That's America today. I get along fine with the Albanians. I have an Albanian partner in my Pelham Bay property. But the Albanians have started assimilating into Westchester now, too. Good for them. Ten or fifteen more years and Morris Park will be nothing but Latinos and Middle Easterners. No doubt in my mind.

When Crea gets taken off the street (jail or death) does anyone think one of the NJ guys could step up and take control of that family?? I doubt it. The Luccheses are a smaller mirror image of the Westside. There are still way more guys active in Westchester and the Bronx than in Jersey. And like I've said a hundred times, those two families work so closely together in the Bronx and Westchester that they may as well be one family. Especially in construction. I don't think the powerbase in either of those families is moving anytime soon.

How does that work with the $ flowing up to the bosses? I find that interesting.. I love reading your insight and thank you for your contributions to the board!!

I was wondering what you guys thought about a NY family one day having their Boss come from one of their NJ Crews... Apparently the Genovese and Luccheses have huge factions of made guys in Nj so I would think that could happen.... I will use the Luccheses as an example.. Right now Crea is UNDOUBTEDLY the boss ( I don't wanna hear about Amuso, I doubt he can control his bowel movements let alone 80-100 guys from jail).. When Crea gets taken off the street (jail or death) does anyone think one of the NJ guys could step up and take control of that family?? Miglore,Madonna and Dinapoli are all up there in age so I doubt they would be able to do it or would even want to do it..... Thoughts? It appears the Genovese family is the only one that has multiple crews based in New Jersey. The others have only one, though the Colombos don't appear to have any. I say "based" because to make a distinction from crew who may have some operations there but are based elsewhere.

He had some operations in Jersey, while living in Yonkers (Westchester), while maintaining his own base of operations at his club in Westchester Square (The Bronx). And while that sounds very confusing, it actually made it easier for him to be somewhat of a conduit between North Jersey and The Bronx/Harlem/Westchester factions of the family. Angelo had a LOT of power and responsibility. But he never got rich. And now he's doing life. It just works out like that sometimes.

Why was he called The Horn? A bullshit nickname only used in indictments and press releases. If you knew him you called him Ange. If you didn't know him you didn't talk to him. Period.

What are the demographics like in Yonkers today? Any gentrification? mostly working class? Gentrification in Yonkers? Pffft. Yonkers used to be a nice little town, almost like a cross between an outer borough and the suburbs. Lots of working class and middle-class families. Let's just say it's gone downhill.

Borelli seems to be the top guy in NJ right now from what i can gather There's a guy in Old Tappan who's like a son to QD. You might want to keep that in mind .
