I read that Mike Franzese used to have a private jet, a yacht among other luxuries. Are there any other mobsters who had extremely over the top expensive "toys" like that? I read online that a G650 is around 60 million.
I'm certainly not all that well-informed but I would venture to say that if indeed OC members had expensive "toys" they would make every effort to conceal the true identity of the owner. Boasting or bragging about such luxurious "toys" would no doubt tweak the interest of the IRS. Just my thoughts.
That's why nicky Scarfo sr. Put his yacht in jerry Blavats name. He knew it was only so long until it was gone. I believe it was taken when Scarfo went to prison. Scarfo jr had a yacht as well I believe. From the Texas based scam with Pellulo.
"My uncle(Nicky Scarfo) always told me, you have to use your brains in this thing, and you always have to use the gun." -"crazy" Phil Leonetti-
So I'm guessing Franzese and Lombardozzi kept all of their stuff under other people's names being that they lived extravagant lifestyles. As did many other mobsters. I'm sure that the top mobsters in America during their heyday could afford a private jet and yacht with no problem though if they ever wanted to buy them.

Surrounded by thick walls and invisible from the outside, the main entrance is a gate with two Doric columns on the sides, topped by a pediment. The villa is a feast of Doric columns, stuccoed pink inside, outside of aquamarine (a double colonnade along the sides of the building). Extension of the property: 3400 square meters; building, on three levels: eight hundred and fifty square meters. Value of the property at the end of the nineties: five billion lire (now four million euro). All bedrooms have at least one bathroom. In the garden you can admire: an artificial lake complete with a wooden bridge that leads to a small islet of plants and trees, swimming pool (designed as an skewed ellipse , to allow the palm trees to shade during the summer days), a 'imitation of the bath of Venus, the showpiece of the English garden Royal Palace of Caserta (the statue of the goddess lies on the surface of the water just like the original of Vanvitelli).
In the late 1920's Al Capone owned an expensive bulletproof armoured car Cadillac V-8 Town Sedan. It was fitted with 3,000lb of steel armour and painted green with black fenders, with flashing lights, a siren and police-band radio receiver. The bulletproof windows haad circular holes for machine guns. After Al's imprisonment,President Franklin Roosevelt used the car briefly.
In the 1950's Outfit member Hyman "Red" Larner owned 7 cars,Chevrolet convertible, a Cadillac 4 door sedan,a Mercury 4 door sedan, another white sedan,a Meircury convertible coupe,a Cadillac Coupe de Ville, and he also rented a 1958 4-door Chevrolet two-tone aqua for $1.000 per day.He also owned two expensive 27-foot cabin cruisers,a huge $50,000 house in Florida and two lavish apartments in Chicago.

Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
A few mobsters had what were described as mansions, Gaspipe , and Vinnie Basciano just to name two. On the other hand, press photos of Gotti's home appear to just be a non descript middle class home, which was a smart move by him. Also Caesar Bonventre drove Ferrari.

The 'Ndrangheta wanted to copy Scarface. The villa will be a family home
Bathrooms with golden taps, faux crocodile coating and the inevitable mosaic pool: it was the home of the Gallico ndrina seized in the summer of 2012 during the action of Dia that also involved the historic Caffè Chigi.
A white porcelain juaguar with diamond eyes is stopped at the entrance to welcome the visitors of Villa Sandra, a residence of 3,500 square meters built in the prestigious neighborhood of Castel De Ceveri, in the most 'in' the City of Formello. It was the house that 'ndrina of Gallico had made inspired by Scarface, now it will be a family home.
[...]
Canopy bed with lacework in Louis XVI style, silk chairs, bathroom golden fixtures and damask tapestry, sofas and total white furnishings in disco style coverings the false crocodile alongside the more traditional nativity, kept in a reliquary guarded by a angel. To complete the picture, three floors, an attic and two basements with taverns, terraces, garden, vegetable garden, an agricultural warehouse and the ever present mosaic pool outside. The style seems to be stuck in the 80s and inspired by Scarface. But the mayor of the City of Formello, Sergio Celestino, hopes that the furniture will be auctioned.

These guys were asking to be arrested .Anyone in that life's maxim should be- have more than you show, speak less than you know.
OC do you know what happened to walter schiavone, the owner of the scarface's mansion ?
Born in 1961, arrested in 1996, was sentenced in 2010 to life; this means that arrested at 35 years will spend the rest of his life in prison; at certain levels they live day by day as intensely as possible knowing that expects or the jail or the death,or a life of fugitive if you're lucky.

Any reason why it's so poorly maintained? I'm assuming that Schiavone has been arrested but I would think that somebody would take care of the house
Those gangsters, once they are arrested, usually order their underlings to take away everything of value from the confiscated houses and even to damage them so they become impossible to live in (or at least warrant a heavy reconstruction). They think that, since they are going to prison and won't live in those houses anymore, nobody else should have them.
Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:
1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."
2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."
Revis, like I said, Salvatore Ruggiero was a millionaire with his own "toys" jets and all.

When Schiavone was arrested, given that was confiscated the house, ordered his men to steal everything that was of value and to set fire to the tires inside the house, as evidenced by Saviano in Gomorrah for a long time there were the lookouts of the clan watching the house; now it's abandoned and the people were too afraid to groped to reuse the house.

I wonder whatever came of Cassos palatial home he was building in Mill Basin. I think I remember reading someone in the know ended up having it for a while, did his family ever enjoy it being finished.
Tommy Karate Pitera was another who was constucting a palace and did not get to enjoy it fully completed, it's interesting to think who did.
