I'm not sure why some members of the old board were having problems logging in, but try the "forgot password" feature on the log-in page and it'll send you a new password (which you can change later) IF your email address is up-to-date...

This new system does not allow me to look up passwords, but I can resend them to you to the email address on record.

If your email address is outdated, or you do not receive your password, please email webmaster@GangsterBB.Net from your new email account with your log-in name and old email address if you know it...

Some members have reported that they needed to add http://www.gangsterbb.net and/or gangsterbb.net to their list of "safe" sites ("whitelist") in their firewall or other Security software. If this may be the case, please check your Norton, McAfee, Windows Firewall, Zone Alarm, etc settings.

If you've successfully logged in before, but for some reason cannot log in, or post, try clicking on the "My Cookies" link at the bottom, then the "Expire Cookies" button, then log back in...

If you just signed up and didn't get your password sent to you in a timely manner, that's because your email address was invalid or some other trouble with it. Please email me.

Why do I have to keep putting my username and password in? I check the remember me button.

Okay, good. One solution would be to try expiring your cookies in "My Stuff"

I am not able to log out. I click the "log out" in the upper right of my screen, it says "logging you out....." but then the screen blinks and I'm right back (still) logged on. I don't have the box ticked that keeps me automatically logged in.

I tried going into My Stuff and clearing Cookies, but they don't clear. I emptied the Cache of my computer, but nothing works. This has only been an issue since yesterday.
I'm on an Apple if that means anything as far as what I can do. It's not that big of a deal, but still...

Thanks.

That's weird, carmela -- it works for me. Maybe rebooting the browser or computer would help? Most likely a Cookies issue, if you can delete it directly from your browser (Safari I assume) that may help...

Ok, I deleted the cookies from my browser and that worked. Thanks, Geoff.

This is NOT a BB problem but rather computer issue. I put a disc in my computer (laptop if it matters) and I can't get it out. confused I can't even feel it when I try reaching for it. I could tell when I closed it, the disc was properly in the slot.

Any suggestions? Thought I'd ask.

Thanks

TIS, I assume the disc player is a drawer that comes out to put the disc in, right? There should be a tiny hole in the drawer that you can stick a paper clip in to force it open. Just straighten the paper clip a bit and stick it in there and press on the latch inside. The drawer should open.

Geoff, the tray ejects, but the cd is not in the tray. I see the little hole outside the drawer, but is there one inside tghe drawer?

Btw, I see I posted in the wrong thread. blush

Yes you did, and I will ban you after this. tongue wink

I can't see the cd getting in there past the tray?! confused Are you sure the cd is in there? Does it rattle when you (gently) shake it (try to shake it lose, vertically, with the tray opened -- or even upside down and then vertically). If it's in there, and you're uncomfortable removing the disc player, hopefully you bought it at a store where you can bring it in -- or perhaps take it to a computer repair shop. That is, ONLY if you are SURE the disc is in there or you'll look like this: blush lol

Geoff,

No, nothing broke. lol

First, let me explain, I am POSITIVE the cd is in the computer but I double checked to make sure it wasn't in the dvd player or in it's case. I KNOW I put it in my computer as it is my daily workout routine (as I watch the news.) grin Just as I closed the tray I knew immediately it was not in right. I did open tray and lightly shook it and nothing rattles or shakes.

Ok, so I opened the tray and for the last few hours have been looking inside and see nothing. I tried a paper clip, a Q-tip, a thin piece of plastic and slid into the slot and feel absolutely nothing. SO, I got an old work-out dvd and put it in the computer and it plays, although I didn't let it play thru. SO, my Denise Austin got eaten up by my computer. confused Question is, is it safe to put another disc in and play it? I am totally baffled as to where the hell the video went. confused I am not gonna unscrew or take apart anything that's for sure.

TIS

Whew! grin

Well, that's odd, because I can't think of where it would go! If anything, I would think the disc would be over the tray -- or somehow behind it. If it's behind it, then good luck. I wouldn't stick any metallic objects in the open player, but can you get a finger in there to feel the top (roof) of the player when the tray is open?

If another disc plays, I guess the other one isn't in the way. If you're lucky it may shake itself loose and fall onto the other one (which would probably cause quit a racket). To play it safe, though, I'd probably take it somewhere to have someone take a look.... you can bring it here, if you want. grin

Thanks Geoff, I wish I could just run my computer over to you to check out but I'm guessing it'll be cheaper to take it to BestBuy or somewhere to check it out? smile

I agree with you though. I won't use it for now cause I don't wanna totally mess it up, but damn, how the hell can I lose a disc inside the computer. It MUST be tightly sitting somewhere.

Thanks for your help. smile

Is anyone else having this problem? It just started a month ago.

I log into the BB and I post either fresh or as a reply or as a quote (this only happens for my first post upon logging in the first time). I click on submit and nothing happens. I then have to reboot and it is only then that Submit accepts my post.

That's weird. First thing I'd try is for most any BB issue: Try "expiring your cookies" in My Stuff. Clear your browser cache. If you're using MSIE browser, stop. wink

Anyone else have this experience? Last week my modem just about went out. Over several days, for hours it would work and for hours it wouldn't work. The last time it wouldn't work, I decided to finally get a Verizon tech out here who told me my modem was shot. So, I ordered a new one. Then, just for the heck of it, I inserted the Verizon modem CD, went through the reinstallation process during which several screens told me that my modem was shot. I then turned off my PC and was about to power down my power strip when I noticed that the modem's internet light was on. So, I powered up my PC, clicked on IE, and low and behold, it worked. It's worked ever since which is about 48 hours. Verizonis giving me amonth's credit on my bill, but convinced me to still accept the new modem which will be $39.

oli -

I've heard of instances in which modems slowly fail, like yours apparently has, and then they'll "come back to life" for awhile. Almost always, they end up failing permanently, though.

I'd advise you to follow the advice of your IP and keep the new modem.
