Good call on all 3 louie, I would guess out of them 3 lombardozzi waa capo the longest? I mean he started under anastasia right and I think if I read wasnt he listes on gotti hr weddinf gift list as a capo?
How far back to jimmy brown go carlo in the 60s? Carmine Lombardozzi was made a captain in the late 50s (56/57?) but demoted in 1964 or 65. Although a huge earner he remained a solider the rest of his life. Jimmy Brown wasn't made captain til the late 60s. He had previously been close to Gambino and served in his crew and as his driver in the 50s. Gambino made Fallia his point man in the waste industry in the early sixties following the death of Vincent "Jimmy Jerome" Squillante.

Stephen Grammauta, Joe Arcuri, Charles Panarella, Larry Dentico, Albert Gallo, Neil Migliore, Joe Lombardo.
Grammauta for longest at a guess.
MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack. CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go. MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'. WILL: So don't go.

Stevie "Coogan" Grammauta spent most of his life as a solider, mostly under Joe piney. He wasn't made skipper until around 94/95. He took over Jack Giordano's crew. Apparently served on Gambino panel through the post Gotti years until things settled down.
Was on the rise during the Castellano years but Gotti didn't like him, so that run was stopped when he took over in 85.
Cant imagine hes too active...he'll be 100 next year.

Good call sonny but was grammauta a capo for kost of his time active? Know he had a long career but for some reason I always thought he was ja soldier? I defer to ur knowledge pry just my misunderstanding I stand corrected regards Stevie Coogan. Add Sonny Franzese to the list. He got his stripes in the 50's and he's certainly active (though hasn't been a skipper in a while).

Paul Castellano had a fairly long reign as a capo before becoming boss. Made a skipper under Anastasia in the early fifties til being named Carlos successor in 1976.
Also Vinny Corraro, Joe butchs father. Held capo position from late 40s til he handed crew to son in mid 70s. Correction: Vinny Corraro wasn't a skip for as long as I originaly thought. He inherited his crew in 68 from Joe Gennaro and passed to his son Joe Butch in the late 70s so he was only a capo for 10 years or so.

Long term Gambino capos:
Joe "Bantie" Biondo. Captain of a crew from late 20's to 1951. A lot of later big guys came up in his crew. Served as consig then underboss during 51 to 65 before being demoted by Gambino for holding back monies owed to the family. 25 plus years
Anthony Scotto. Took over from his father in law Tony Anastasio in 1963. Served until removed by John Gotti in 1986. 23 years
Patsy Conte. Took over his father, Antonio "Niño" Contes crew upon his fathers death in 1958. May have been acting capo prior while his father served as underboss to Albert Anastasia. Removed in 1994- his crew taken over by Dom Ceflu. 36 years
Joe Arcuri. Made under Vincent Mangano, FFS!! Took over his father, Domenico Arcuris crew in mid 60s. Served as captain until his death in 2007. Was on ruling panels in post Gotti era but essentially served as crew chief for forty something odd years...long run. Served under every boss from Mangano to Peter Gotti. Never did any time. I read that Arcuri was based on 69th street close to the Upper East side, near Murray Hill. Is that true? That section wasn't always rich. Even the Ramones wrote a song about how it was sketchy. Nowadays it si obviously super rich, but walking the area especially the lower numbered avenues, you get a sense it wasn't always that way.

Not that it really matters but East 69th Street IS the upper east side. Murray Hill is the East 30s. Upper east side is east 59th street to east 96th street. All of it is pretty well off, but the really wealthy part is near Central Park. The upper east corner of the neighborhood (yorkville) is relatively reasonable and some good deals can be found there. Sorry - I'm in NY real estate.

Cant imagine hes too active...he'll be 100 next year. Idea for a new thread: how many guys are listed as active mobsters online but are actually in nursing homes or connected to tubes?

I found another article about Arcuri in the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/22/nyregi...t-of-sight.htmlIt says he was actually based on East 76th steet, at the "Victory Star Social Club". So, yeah, he was way north of Murray Hill. It's interesting to me because you rarely here of mobsters based in that stretch of Manhattan.
