Completely 100% gentrified with a yuppie and gay population . Zero left of old New York and the Irish are all long gone, cashed out on selling their old walk ups and moved out to the suburbs...
However, Rudy's is still there on 9th Ave. Even the old Blarney Rock on 47th was recently closed and they are gutting it out and putting in god knows what
It's mostly hipster craft beer hangouts, gay bars, and cheesy "chainish" type places now. There's a few Dive bars still holding out, but Hell's Kitchen is a perfect example of the changing demographics of NYC. Some of the old dive bars that are still around are like I mentioned before Rudy's, Smith's, Dave's Tavern, and the Bikini bar (called Best Bar NYC now) underneath the Port Authority are all still around...
Buddy leahea and jimmy coonan and Dom cefalu still have marine contracting construction company...that's about the closest you can get to anything resembling the westies in 2016
