Why did Vincent Cafaro flip in 1986?

At least one reason is his personal falling out with Fat Tony, who threatened to hit him with his cane at one point while they were in jail.

Probably didn't want to do 45 years the feds were giving all the mafia guys around the country during that time period. They had tapes of him running his mouth and caught him with guns. The way he got bail should have raised flags for all them guys cause at first he was a danger to the community no bail. I wonder if he's still alive. He made off good never did anymore time.

Cafaro did say that Salerno threatened to wack him in jail. Also he was looking at 25+ years.

Gigante like his mentor Genovese made the same mistake i.e. to menace to whack some one in jail and made him flip.
Genovese gave the Kiss of death to Valachi, that will do his time without flips and I think that Cafaro will do the same thing: 25 y in 1986 and maybe will be out in the early 2000s.

LOL. This reminds me of when the nuns used to hit me with their canes back in school.

Any wonder he ratted? He must've felt like a child.

http://www.nytimes.com/1987/03/21/nyregi...ngs-of-mob.html

Mr. Cafaro, who is 53 years old and lives in the Bronx, was indicted with Mr. Salerno and several others last year in another Federal case that involves gambling, bid-rigging and labor racketeering.

I dont know how can risk with this charges. But at the end his son Thomas won't never be made causa his dad e en he is a trusted associate.

I've read that it was Cafaro's testimony that shed light on Cafaro sponsoring Barney Bellomo into the family and how Barney was made at 19 or 20 in a ceremony above an east harlem pizzaria.

I've read Vincent Cafaro's entire testimony transcipt at the 25 years after valachi hearing in 1988 but I don't see anywhere his claims regarding Bellomo.

My question is did he claim this at another hearing or on a fbi document somewhere. Anyone know where I can find his claims regarding Bellomo? Thanks guys!!

Barrone said Barney worked out a deal with fish where he would withhold info concerning Barney (and possibly others?) in exchange for Barney protecting Thomas
