How many made men did the San Jose crime family have at the max, under Joe Cerrito's rule? I know San Francisco had around 25 official members at its peak in the 1960s and 1970s under James Lanza.

Also, does anyone know who ran the Bonanno family's crew in the Bay Area?

Its a confusing subject, a lot of the San Jose guys were defects from LA, who'd either defected from LA to Arizona and back to San Jose, or NY, Arizona and then San Jose. A lot of them were linked to the Bonannos, even members of the San Jose family itself. The Sciortino's, not Onofrio but those who came after, had Bonanno links, I think a few were even members who had defected with Joe and his Son to Arizona and then started to operate in San Jose as a part of that family. There's a Peter Sciortino whom was identified as being made with the LA family, but sources have him ending up in Arizona with Bonanno.

Its hard to say who ran what and who was in charged of said Bonanno crew, because the Bonannos of San Jose was very intertwined with the San Jose family itself.

Here are some links provided by JCB (JCrusher, I think they're the same guy) from another forun, which may provide good info on the Bay Area families, Bonanno linked guys too...

The San Jose or Cerrito Family had 30 made men at his peak. Now the last made men are:

Carlo America b.1937
Larry Bracco b.1947
Salvatore "Sal M" Marino jr
Thomas Novello b.1951

I'll just ask straight out, was this a drug family? Like did the family exist to facilitate narcotics coming from Mexico, through Cali?

Or were there other more traditional rackets that were dominant?

San Jose is more distante to the border.
If would exist a family in San Diego would be more easy to smuggle coke from the border.
