It's just my opinion but when the Scotland finally become independent again after 1707, the scottish will choose a republic or a monarchy ?
My professor said that "the monarchies are relics of the Middle Ages" so if there are scottishmen on the forum I want to know what thinks about.

Well the last referendum vote was a no.They are going on about having another vote but you cant just keep voting till things go your way surely. And as for the royals, i believe they would stay as monarchs of Scotland even if there is an eventual split.

Yogi I don't think that when the Scots will be indipendent will accept to stay in the commonwealth and take Elizebeth as formal head of state; I'm referring if will be choose the last descendant of the Stuart family as king or will be choose a king between the clans chiefs,it's a mine romantic idea but who know.

They overwhelmingly voted against independence in 2014 so that's not going to change for a very long time now.

55% is hardly overwhelming...I'll be voting to exit the eu next month, which would trigger another Scottish referendum. Then vote for independence and subsequently back into the eu on our own down the line...

There will never be another monarchy in Scotland...whilst I don't hate the queen etc, aside from the real big hitters, they are generally parasites. We've endured and financed the silly charade for too long and if the Scottish people achieved independence this would be about as high up the agenda as dog shit in the street

For my teacher the monarchies are relics of the Middle Ages. Said so if want to change name of to lord Chambers to sente and all the lord must be elected and if the state dont give a penny to the Royal and impose them to pay the taxes on everything; well I think that can stay a queen or a king but shouldn't stay on the people sholders. And until the english people love monarchy its ok.
For the referendum, if the irish this year for the 100 years from the easter rising made the referendum for merce Eire and ulteriori and win for sure the Scots will try again to be indipendent. But this my opinion.
