Another reason against this theory is that they were hot to get Castellano and they needed someone direct with Castellano, at most Roy had driven Nino to and sat in on meetings at the SI mansion, he didn't have much direct contact.
It's been ages since I read Murder Machine, but I remember that they were going after Roy to get to Nino, whom they hoped busting would at least seriously weaken Costellano and get Roy's crew off of street at the same time.
This life of ours, this is a wonderful life. If you can get through life like this, hey, thats great. But it's very, very unpredictable. There are so many ways you can screw it up.-Paul Castellano (he would know)

I love murder machine but do you reLly think roy was gonna flip i dont hed be doing life with the geminis or gotti would have killed him but who nows. I remember reding he was reching out but thats probaly a feds take. I really like Murder Machine too. I honestly doubt Roy was reaching out, or even trying to feel out help. I agree it's 100% a take by reporting officers. And like mentioned above, there was little left to even flip on, he would be implicated in those in his crew in anything he could have given them up for. He was between a rock and a hard place towards the end, and I'm sure he saw the signs on the wall that if he was convicted in the auto theft ring he'd likely never get out as they would keep piling on murder charges once they got him off the street. It's a shame Roy got Henry Borelli jammed up in a bullshit auto ring with Freddie DiNome, not that Borelli was some class act or anything but he really got a raw deal with his sentencing and the entire trial was initiated by investigating the Kuwait car thing. 150 years for taking orders from Roy.
