That's ok Gets. Good chance to maybe share memories. My father has been gone almost 6 yrs and I think of him everyday. Cherish every moment. One brief memory, if I may. My father was kind, generous and had a great sense of humor. When I was young I worked downtown but would park at his dry cleaners (which was by downtown) and he'd drop me/pick me up for work everyday so I avoided parking downtown. I had the habit of filling my gas tank at the last minute. He'd always tell me, "Ann, you're riding on a prayer". Haha. He'd always take his wallet out and try to give me money for gas. I'd tell him I have the money, I just haven't gotten gas yet. One time as he was leaving my car and I was heading home we kept tossing a twenty back/forth that he kept trying to give me. (understand he ALWAYS wanted to give me money, not to mention gas was probably 80cents a gal). Anyway, I "thought" I won and took off, only to have him rush to open window on passenger side and throw that 20 in as he said "You're stubborn, just like your mother." I miss him so much. TIS

..... as he said "You're stubborn, just like your mother."
I miss him so much. Hey SC. How ya doing? Turns out tho, my dad was right. It took only one time, when I did run out of gas on the freeway. Back in those days, no cell phones to call for help. BUT, as most people did back then, I had an empty gas can in the trunk. Off I went on foot heading for the nearest exit/gas station to get enough gas to put in my car and then drive back to finish filling it. That NEVER happened again. TIS

That's a great story,TIS. He was just protecting his daughter...that's his natural instinct. They key to the back and forth of relatives trying to give you money is to let them feel needed, and mail the cash back to them with a thank you note saying that you appreciate it, but that they raised you well enough to be able to stand on your own two feet. To lighten the mood a bit....I give everybody here permission to laugh at the fact that a Black guy didn't know when Father's Day was. cause you were thinking it... My Father passed away years ago. One fond memory I have is, getting my first paycheck as a teen and buying stuff for my little brother and my bad beaming that I had decided to take care of my brother before even buying stuff for myself.
