It was like when they found two other bosses hiding in a cave. Why would they rather live in a small cave for 20 years instead of doing time on a 30 year bid for example.

First because even in a cave, a bunker etc they continue to be the boss and in the Fazzalari cove in 2004 was found cigars and campagne (not all is like Provenzano); second, the dangerous bosses stay in the 41 bis regime. At least is the power what let him to do this tipe of life.

Wow in Italy they go to extremes to hide in a cave/ bunker haha!! And wiseguys in NYB openly parade outside social clubs- amazing
This the difference between sicilian and american mafia. In italy the idea to stay on the lam for years is accepted while in the US except few cases the wiseguys dont want to stay in hiding for years maybe in a bunker. For sure in italy for a boss is more easy to hide while in us, no.
