By now, we have all seen the ubiquitous footage of poor Saddam's head bouncing along a Baghdad street as Iraqis hit his face with their shoes.

I LOVE THIS SHIT!

But ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, pay attention: you are witnessing the finest spectacle of American propaganda since WWII.

1. OK. Where in the world does a gaggle of Iraqis, who don't even have beer, potato chips, water, lunchmeat, etc., get a 200-foot length of two-inch rope? I don't know if anyone knows anything about rope, but a length that size and width costs about $1000.

2. And that ladder? Was someone sitting there saying, "Shit...that statue is pretty high. Wait! I have this aluminum ladder in my ass!"?

3. The American flag over Saddam's face: PRICELESS!!! The wind sticks the Stars & Stripes over his mug. Then you see the Marine up there addressing someone on the ground to take it down. So the Marine stuffs it under the rope, giving Saddam a bowtie.

4. The Marine tank-saver (basically, a tow truck for humvees, tanks, vans, whatever) is sitting there.

5. The tank-saver to the rescue! With a mini-crane, nonetheless!

6. An Iraqi follows a Marine up the crane. But the Marine turns around and reprimands him, motioning for him to go away. Oh, shit...this is fantastic!

7. Pan in to the statue being yanked...notice that the American flag has been removed completely. Appears there was enough time to get in touch with PR in Washington to see if the flag could stay or go.

8. NOW THE BEST PART: The statue starts to come down, but it doesn't fall to the ground...how very anti-climactic! It takes another tug to pull it down. (Compare this with the stone swastika that was detonated after Berlin fell.)

9. Pan in to the head being dragged. If you look closely, there are about 20 people. At least 10 of them are press photographers.

Now, I don't really care about all this, except for the entertainment value. Maybe it IS a case of liberation. Maybe not. I don't care one way or the other.

But you have to love the bullshit that has accompanies this war.

Ha Ha, thanks for the early morning laugh, Poke. The 'Today' show interviewed the Marine that put the flag on the statue. He said that the reason they took it down was because they weren't taking over Iraq;they instead put up an Iraqui flag so the people could feel like it was 'their' country now.Ha! If they hated Hussein so bad why didn't they all just go jump his ass? I'm sure that the whole pissed off country could take a few bodyguards.

Very funny Uzi...I needed a laugh to-day, just one of those days, you know?

Sick the dogs on them....we are taking over Iraq! And since we (the "coalition") are the only ones who have enough balls to do so we should be able to hang our flag any damn where we please. Almost everything that you write Poke is interesting.....almost everything.
