The Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas are probably the most hardcore criminal organization and organized crime group in the world. I like how every time the government tries to capture one of their captains or bosses their sicarios come out to confront and give their lives to protect their bosses. They are straight up goons with nothing to lose and tons to gain.

Are they still operational?

A few things I've read give the impression that they were no longer operational. If they are, are these the primary organizations that deal with the Calabrians?

What is the strength of the Zetas in comparison with Sinaloa?

And also, what is their strength relative to the NewJalisco cartel?
