I threatened to kick my daughter out about 10 times when she was a teenager. It's just those awkward years between you being their little baby, and you trying to be a grown up. Everything will work out. My daughter makes more then minimum wage, and she'll be back home in October when she gets out of college. But then, she has car payment and car insurance to pay too.

Don't worry. You're still your parent's baby. I doubt they'll kick you out.

Figuring you have a take-home pay of roughly $500/month ($250 every two weeks) and as Beth mentioned that you have to eat, its not gonna be enough. If you feel you MUST move out of your parents' house you can always find a roommate with whom to split the cost.

Don't forget you'll have additional costs, too (i.e. a phone, transportation, utilities, etc.).

Before you try and do it on your own, do you have any other family around that you could stay with?
Let me tell you that the little amount you make is almost nothing when you on your own, even with two or three roommates. Your life would really suck, working hard just to barely get by.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you are having a real problem, go talk to a friends parent, some clergy person, a relative or someone else you trust.

Please don't think $500. a month is a lot of money.

I agree, $500 isn't enough. I have no idea what rent runs in your area, but here in CA in Riverside County, you can't get a 600 sq.ft. one bedroom apartment for less than $6/700 a month, and that's not even a really "nice" place.

I know out here there are some people who rent rooms. I know it's not ideal and you more or less live in your room, but that's one option to consider if you are forced to leave your parents house.

Roomates would be ideal to help with expenses, however I have seen friendships end once they live together, so make sure it's someone that gives you your space and be aware that you must be accomodating to an extent as well.

Would your parents help you out finanacilly at all? Whatever you decide good luck to you.

I've looked in the "Merchanette" which is supposedly the nation's biggest flea market or something liek that. It's like a newspaper. I dunno, they list real estate in there, and I've seen apartments in my town for about 185 or 200 a month. That's what made me think I might have enough money to pay for it.

My parents wanted me to go to a 90 year old guys birthday party an hour away and I don't know the guy. I told them I didn't want to go, but would if I had to. They got pissed, left me standing outside my house without a key to get in. My dad's last words to me before he left were "I can't stand you, get out of my house."

So I walked to my boyfriends house.. which is pretty far away. (about 1.5 miles) His brother drove me home at 11.. I came in my house.. no one talked to me.. so I said "eff it" and went to bed. I got up the next morning at 6 to go to work.. came home at 3 and I was locked out again. So I got ready to walk back down to my boyfriend's.. but a girl from work let me use her car. So I drove down.. came home around 10.. and this time my family talked to me.. They started bitching at me about how everything in the house that is wrong is my fault. Blah Blah Blah.

I have two younger brothers who are supposedly angels. They never do anything wrong. They are perfect. At least that's what my parents think. We've got home videos labeled "The Kids".. and the only "kids" who are on them are my brothers.

The only reason I'm still living here is because my parents are paying for my college tuition. Although they've threatened to take that away, too.
